IT SHALL BE PERMANENT

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Mal.3:5-7

More Scriptures: Heb.13:8, Gen.24:1, Job.42:15

The title for today’s devotional is derived from a song we used to sing in fellowship back then in secondary school. It goes like this, it shall be permanent (2x); what the Lord has done for me, it shall be permanent. This song is to remind you that what God has done for you shall be permanent. The peaceful relationship you have with your wife and children is permanent. The joy that flows from your flock to you is permanent. Your marriage with your wife is permanent. The Scripture says that whatever the Lord doeth, it shall be forever (Ecc.3:14).

God will not give you a wife today and cause you pain tomorrow. God will not bless you with children today and make you weep over them tomorrow. God loves you so much to let you down as the good and godly man, husband and father and head of your family. He wants you to succeed as a leader over your wife and children. He wants you to live in health and vitality. He wants your flock to honour and respect you sincerely at home and outside the home. God wants the love you have for your wife to keep increasing from strength to strength. He wants you to sustain the zeal you once had for your wife and children.

Now consider these verses of Scriptures that describe the best wishes of God for you. And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job, and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren. So, Job died, being old and full of days (Job 42:15,17).

And Abraham was old, and well-stricken in age and the Lord had blessed Abraham in all things (Gen.24:1).

Both Job and Abraham were husbands like you and I. God did not only do great works in their lives, He ensured that the works were permanent. God has not changed. If He made it happen for these two husbands, He can and is ready to make it happen for you. All you need to do is to look up to Him and trust His instructions. In Heb.13:8, the Bible says that God is the same yesterday, today and forever. And in Mal.3:6, the word of God says, for I am the Lord, I change not, therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. God is prepared to restore those glorious moments you used to have with your wife and children when you first started your family. You must not allow discouragement to have a hold of you.

 SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, by Your Spirit, empower me for a victorious life as the godly man, husband and father.
  • Father, by the power in the blood of Jesus, help me to defeat every arrow of the devil sent to scatter my sheep and sheepfold.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make the words of my mouth like fire and empower it to burn every chaff of the adversary in and around my sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION

I stand up against the adversary, satan, by the blood of Jesus Christ and I win over him for I am the good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus name. Amen.
