YOU’RE THE AIR THEY BREATH

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Jn.10:10

More Scriptures: Jn.15:5, Gen.12:2, Gen.1:28

I believe many of us did a bit of Biology as a subject in high school. And we all come across the topic “oxygen”. We were told that we breathe in oxygen (O2) and exhale carbon dioxide (CO2). We were also told that oxygen gives life because without it, we will all die. I did not know the worth of this teaching until I had a nasty encounter some time ago. I entered the elevator. And shortly afterward and mid-way into the lift, the electrical system of the elevator shut down and stopped working. I waited for a while for it to be restored but it never did and for a long while I was trapped. It was stuffy. The air was not circulating. I was not able to take in oxygen because the elevator was somehow airtight. I began to have difficulty breathing. It was becoming increasingly uncomfortable for me in the unfunctional elevator. After some time, the elevator started to work, and I exited with so much relief.

That is how important you are to your wife and children. You are like the air that circulates in the elevator. Nobody inside the elevator can be comfortable if the air circulation stops. As the head of your family and the shepherd over your sheep, you are a critical success factor in their lives. You represent a vital part of their lives. You mean so much to your wife and children. This is what Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, reflected when He said, I came that you may have life and have it more abundantly…..(Jn.10:10)….. And without Me, you can do nothing..(Jn.15:5)…. You must work diligently to be relevant in your sheepfold and in the individual life of your sheep. God wants you to be a significant part of the lives of your wife and children, which explains why He sent you into their lives and made you the head.

However, for you to be the oxygen in the lives of your sheep, you need to firstly acknowledge the role God has ordained for you as the godly man, husband and father. It is a common fact that knowledge empowers. Knowledge also stirs up faith and confidence. The power of knowledge makes you do great things and gain new grounds. This is why the word of God in Daniel 11:32, tells us that they that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits (Dan.11:32). Jesus said that you shall know the truth and the truth that you come to acknowledge shall set you free (Jn.8:32). Secondly, you must seek to know the plan of God for your sheep and be ready to do what He tells you to do. Always remember that doing what you know is what brings you profit. Therefore, be relevant to your wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes of understanding and help me to see who I am from Your word.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes to see Your plans for my wife and children from Your word.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to do those things that will make me a significant factor in the lives of my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a significant factor in the lives of my wife and children because I know who I am from the word of God and I do what God says I should as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
