WHAT THE HIGH PRIEST DOES (1)

Bible Texts: Heb.8:3, Jn.3:16, 2Cor.9:8, Heb.7:15-16

And since every high priest is required to offer gifts and sacrifices, our High Priest must make an offering too (Heb.8:3).

The will of God for the high priest is to have something to offer not just as an obligation but as a necessity. The ability and capacity of the high priest to offer something is what qualifies him to be fit for the office of the priesthood. No high priest must be empty. That is who you are in Jesus Christ. As the head of the family and the shepherd over your wife and children, you are the high priest in your sheepfold. You must have something tangible to offer or give to your wife and children, both gifts and sacrifices.

So, the question before you now that you must answer is this. Do your offer gifts to your wife and children? Do you live a life of sacrifice for the sake of your wife and children? As the good and godly husbandman, you do not attain the fullness of your priesthood by talk but by practical action. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son (Jn.3:16). God has Jesus Christ to offer as both a gift and a sacrifice. Remember Abraham, the husbandman to Sarah? He had Isaac to offer as a gift to honour God’s commandment. Solomon had a thousand burnt sacrifices to offer.

You must understand that the priestly office that you occupy is honourable. God chose you to be in that office so that you can represent Him in the lives of your wife and children. He has made all provision for you so that you can have something to give for the good of your sheep. The Scripture says God has made all grace abound unto us that we may abound unto every good works (2Cor.9:8). The responsibility you have is to seek from the word of God-The Bible- what He has provided for you to offer as the good and godly priest. The Bible is full of treasures that you can offer to honour God, your wife and children. If you do not search, you will not find and if you don’t find, you will have nothing to offer. The office of the priesthood is a privilege. You must make it count in the lives of your wife and children, bringing glory to God.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me Your ways and Your words.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, open my eyes to discover Your provision for my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to give worthy sacrifice to my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I diligently search my Bible to find the provision God has provided for me to sacrifice for my wife and children as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
