THE MARRIAGE IN CANA (1)

Bible Texts: Jn.2:1-10, Gen.12:2, Jn.10:10, Gal.4:19

The event in our Bible passage today, that is John gospel chapter 2 and verses 1 through to 10, is quite long. So, I will pick few verses and trust the Person of the Holy Spirit to minister to you. It is the marriage at Cana.

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee and the mother of Jesus was there. And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, they have no wine….Jesus saith unto them fill the waterpots with water and they filled them up to the brim. And he saith unto them, draw out now and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it. When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine and knew not whence it was…..the governor of the feast called the bridegroom. And saith unto him, every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine, and when men have well drunk then that which is worse. But thou hast kept the good wine until now (Jn.2:1-10).

The marriage in Cana can be considered as a high profile wedding ceremony. Very Important dignitaries were in attendance and there was enough food and drink. Unfortunately, the wine finished and there was apprehension at the wedding. Then the host quickly told the mother of Jesus Christ to plead with her Son, Jesus Christ to help. Jesus Christ stepped in and the story changed for good. He asked them to fill the water pots and directed that the content be shared. When the governor tasted the wine, it was the best wine and he asked why the best wine was kept for the last. Jesus Christ who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman had their back covered. He saved the host and the invited guests from shame and embarrassment. He came through for them. That is who you are in the lives of your wife and children.

There is no honour in you if your wife and children are dishonoured. You are the game changer. You are their saviour. What an honour God has bestowed on you as the good and godly husbandman. Make it count positively for the good of your wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to make the lives of my wife and children sweeter and better.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to be a blessing to my wife and children.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a savior to my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am created to beautify the lives of wife and children with the love of Christ because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
