As the good and godly husbandman, you operate within an environment or circumference, be it spiritually, mentally, relational, financial, and in many more areas. So, it is therefore important for you to understand the environment you are in or have created so that you do not get distracted from your calling as the good and godly man, husband and father.
There are several things that are trying to distract you. These distractions come from the internet, television, newspapers, radio programmes and your friends. Sadly, they are deviations designed to take you away from doing what God commands you. They are traps of the enemy set up to destroy the relationship you have with God, your wife and children. And that explains why today, God is warning you to run away from anything and anyone that appears sin-attractive. God wants you to create and maintain relationships and environment that will help you live a life well-pleasing to God, your wife, children and the society (Rom.12:1-3).
It is true that all husbandmen are tempted and there is nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is when you fall into it. There are husbandmen who have gotten into unhealthy relationships and ultimately lost their crown as the spiritual leaders of their homes. As the good and godly husbandman you must be very careful with what you say, where you go and who you meet. From time to time you must evaluate the impact of your relationships with your fellow husbandmen and the opposite sex.
The Bible says, examine yourself if you are still in the faith. Some husbandmen have long lost their faith because of the kind of contacts they have made and kept. It is not all relationships that you must keep. It is not all places that you must go. It is not all appointments that you must honour. You must safeguard your wife and children from scandal, shame, and embarrassment by guiding the kind of influences that you allow into your life.
But how do I create and maintain a good and godly relationship? You do that through the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit. In Jn.14:26, the Word of God says that He will teach you all things and guide you into all truths. The Person of the Holy Spirit will teach where to go and how to go and He will also guide you in and out of unhealthy relationships. However, you must intentionally invite Him into your life and be willingly to do what He commands you to do. You must surrender your will to Him to lead you.
The life of your wife and children are precious in the sight of God. You must not disappoint God by allowing your life to be messed up by satan, sin and the world. Stay away from all appearance of evil. Take authority over every ungodly influence and filthiness by exercising your Christ-like nature. Create and maintain a godly environment because that is your safety as the good and godly husbandman.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to create a godly environment around my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to know when I am in wrong environment and guide my feet away from it.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live above sin and its attractions.
FAITH CONFESSION
I create and maintain a godly environment around my life because that is what secures my heritage as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
