WEARING THE GARMENT OF JESUS CHRIST

There is a clarion call on the husbandman to wake up and follow after Jesus Christ, the good and godly husbandman. Now is the time for the husbandman to put away childish and ungodly behaviours and put on the garment of righteousness and good works because the times we are in are perilous and require your light to shine before all men, bringing glory to God (Matt.5:14-16).

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering, forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any, even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness (Col.3:11-14)

As the husbandman, God wants you to put on mercies, kindness, humility of heart, loyalty, truthfulness, meekness, patience, endurance, understanding, forgiveness, and love. These are the attitude that makes you the good and godly husbandman.

But what does it mean to wear the garment of Jesus Christ and why do I wear the garment of Christ so that I can possess and manifest the character of Jesus Christ?

Wearing the garment of Jesus Christ simply means thinking like Christ would in all circumstances and manifesting the virtues as mentioned in Colossians chapter 3 and verses 11 through to 14, in all areas of your life pursuits.

And you need to put on the nature of Christ because, firstly, you are made in the image and likeness of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit (Gen.1:26-28). Secondly, you are an ambassador of Christ in your home and on earth. Thirdly, you have the mind of Christ, hence you are able to respond to the issues of life and in your relationships after the order of Jesus Christ.

But for you to be able to live out these virtues as the husbandman, you must give yourself to these important spiritual demands.

The first is that you must have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ by repenting of your sinful ways and accepting Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and saviour (Jn.3:4-9, 2Cor.5:17). Secondly, you must give attention to the study and meditation of the word of God because this is the only way you can know and increase in the knowledge of the Person and principles of Jesus Christ (Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15). Thirdly, you must give yourself to a lifestyle of prayer and fasting in order to access the power from God that will empower you to be like His Son, Jesus Christ in all things and at all times (Mk.9:29, Jn.15:5, Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19). Fourthly, you must continue to confess in faith your right standing with God as the good and godly husbandman (Rom.10:10, 2Cor.4:13, Heb.11:1-6). Finally, you must identify with fellow husbandmen and associations that will inspire and motivate you to be like Jesus Christ in your words, walk, works and conduct.

Make a decision today to wear the garment of Jesus Christ. You will be blessed you did and God shall be glorified in your life as the good and godly man, husband and father. Are you ready?

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for conducting myself in ways that do not represent You in words, thoughts, response and reaction.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, put on me Your nature and let me manifest them in all areas of my leadership role as the husbandman.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be like Jesus Christ in all that I think, say and do.

FAITH CONFESSION

I put away the garment of unrighteousness and put on the virtues of Jesus Christ and manifest same in all areas of my life because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
