Did you know that as the husbandman, you are a manager engaged by God to manage His resources on earth? Did you know that your wife and children are resources given to you by God? Did you know God gave them to you to make them become God’s best for your benefit and to the kingdom of God on earth?
Over the next few days, we shall be exploring from the word of God the secret of nurturing God’s precious resources that is our wife and children so that they can fulfill God’s plans for their lives and be a blessing to us.
Our anchor Scripture is Luke chapter 19 and verses 11 through to 26. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that your eyes of understanding shall be enlightened. Amen.
Jesus Christ, teaching in Luke chapter 19 and verses 11 to 26, shared a parable about a landowner who gives resource in equal proportion to three sets of managers. Each manager is supposed to trade with the seed that has been entrusted to them by the landowner and produce results. While two managers produce results by putting their resources to good use, the other manager produce no results. When the landowner requests for accountability from the three managers, he is pleased with two and unhappy with the one. The owner of the land increased the resources of the two managers and collected from the third manager the resource he had given because he did not made good use of it.
Now what lessons can you and I as managers learn from this teaching?
The first lesson is that everything that you have comes from God, including your wife and children.
John answered and said, a man can receive nothing, except it be given him from heaven (Jn.3:27)
Secondly, everything you have including your wife and children are precious seeds or resources from God for your good and for God’s glory
And I will make of thee a great nation and I will bless thee and make thy name great and thou shalt be a blessing (Gen.12:2)
Thirdly, you have a personal responsibility to nurture the resources in your custody in order for it to produce good and godly fruits.
And every plant of the field before it was in the earth and every herb of the field before it grew, for the Lord God has not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground (Gen.2:5)(Gen.1:26-28)
If you don’t do anything about the resource, you have denied it the capacity to transform its potentials to results.
God has entrusted His resources into your hands to do something positive about them. If you don’t like the outcomes you see in your wife and children, it is your fault because only a bad workman complains of his tools (Deut.6:7-9, 1Pet.3:7, Eph.6:4). Find out from the word of God what you can do to effectively nurture them to bring out the best and not the worst of them.
Let us continue tomorrow.
