GROWING INTO THE FULL IMAGE OF JESUS CHRIST

Bible Texts: 1Pet.2:1, Jn.5:39, Ps.119:105, 1Cor.16:9, Eph.5:14, Ps.119:89, Lk.18:1, Philp.3:10, Ps.1:1-3, Philp.3:13-14, Gal.4:19, 1Thess.5:12

I have discovered from Scriptures that the perfect will of God for the husbandman is to be like His Son, Jesus Christ. God wants the husbandman to grow into full maturity. God doesn’t want him to remain as a baby in the things of the word of God, but to develop into sonship.

But how does the husbandman grow into the full image of Jesus Christ?

The Bible provides the key.

As new born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby…(1Pet.2:1b).

From the above Bible passage, the word of God is the ingredient you need to grow into becoming the good and godly husbandman. Just like a plant needs sunlight and a baby needs milk to grow, you also need the word of God to grow and become the good and godly man, husband, and father.

As the husbandman, you must not only desire the pure word of God, but you must also pray the word of God into your life and ask the Person of the Holy Spirit to make it a reality in your daily walk as the man, husband, and father (Gal.4:19).

Now, why do I need to feed on the word of God to grow and be like Jesus Christ?

The Word of God is the truth. It contains the principles that are enduring and unchanging (Ps.119:105).

The Word of God also provides direction that will help you act, conduct yourself, and react in ways pleasing to God.

The Word of God changes and transforms (Rom.12:1-2, 2Cor.3:18).

The more you feed on the Word by studying and thinking on it, the more you experience transformation in your spirit, soul and body.

It is true that you may not be living the life Jesus Christ wants you to live. It may also be true that everything about your conduct, actions, and attitude falls far short of being called good and godly. And you may have concluded that you cannot be like Jesus Christ.

Hold on! I want you to read this word of assurance from the word of God and see hope.

Awake you who sleep and arise from the dead and Christ will shine on you (Eph.5:14)

The Scripture says that Jesus Christ will shine on you if you awake and arise. You must awake from your past and make a new beginning today. Therefore, do not give up. Do not surrender to defeat. Make a firm decision today to be like Jesus Christ. Ask God to forgive you and invite Jesus Christ into your life. Walk with the Person of the Holy Spirit and depend on Him for help and guidance, and keep your prayer altar aflame.

You can be like Jesus Christ! Yes, you can.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the name of Jesus, have mercy upon me for refusing to desire the pure milk of Your word.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, empower my life to grow by Your word.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to be like Jesus Christ by Your word.

FAITH CONFESSION

I desire and drink from the pure word of God to grow and to be like Jesus Christ because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, Jesus, I come to you today, just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
