This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long-suffering, FOR A PATTERN TO THEM WHICH SHOULD HEREAFTER BELIEVE ON HIM TO LIFE EVERLASTING (1Tim.1:15-16)
One of the principal commitments God wants every husbandman to make is to set a godly pattern, that is, godly values, drawn from the Word of God. As the good and godly husbandman, you are the leading light in your sheepfold. You are Christ’s ambassador. God has a pattern that He wants you to follow and live by and the Bible provides you with the template on how you are expected to live your life as the good and godly man, husband and father (Gen.2:14-18, Matt.19:5, Num.30:1-end, Deut.6:6-9, Eph.5:25-29, 2Thess.3:10, 1Tim.5:8, Eph.6:4, Col.3:19, Gal.4:19, Matt.5:14-16).
But for you to set a good and godly pattern and be like Christ, you must acknowledge Jesus Christ as your Lord and Personal Saviour (Jn.3:3). You must consciously and deliberately invite Jesus into your life and ask Him to take charge of your life (2Cor.5:17).
You must also work out your salvation with fear and trembling. This requires you to invest your time to study your Bible, pray the instructions the Holy Spirit will be communicating to you, and personally think and do what the word of God says. Daniel, in Daniel chapter 1, intentionally chose to do what is right.
But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the kings’ meat, nor with the wine which he drank….. (Dan.1:8)
You must daily contend in prayers coupled with fasting until the nature of Christ is formed in you (Lk.18:1).
I travailed in birth until Christ is formed in you (Gal.4:19)
The proof of your life as the good and godly husbandman is founded on the godly values you have set for yourself and live by. That is the perfect will of God for you.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me Your ways and help me to live through them.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live above the flesh and help me to live by the Spirit.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a godly pattern for my wife and children and the world.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am a worthy ambassador of Jesus Christ because I have set a godly pattern after the word of God and I am living out the patterns thereby making me function as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
