Bible Texts: 1Pet.1:13-16, Acts 1:1, Heb.12:1-3, Matt.6:22, Mk.9:29, Lk.6:45, Jn.2:5, Jas.4:7, 2Cor.5:14, Jn.3:31, Ps.1:1-3, 2Tim.2:15
Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ, as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct , because it is written, be holy, for I am holy (1Pet.1:13-16)
If you and I must succeed in our walk with God as the good and godly husbandmen, we must continue to guard our thoughts by bringing them under the authority of the Word of God.
But how do I guard and guide the loins of my mind?
You guard and guide your mind by ordering your conduct in righteousness and allowing the word of God to be the final decider in what you allow into your life and in all your decisions. This is what keeps your mind in tune with the Spirit of God.
As the husbandman, you must always do what is right according to the word of God and not what you like. You must think exactly as the Word of commands and instructs, whether it is convenient or not (Deut.28:1, Dan.1:8, Ps.42:1).
You must allow the love of Christ to take root in your heart so that the love of Christ can influence your thoughts and conduct to please God in all things (Rom.5:5).
You must continue to engage with the weapon of prayer and fasting to access the power of God that will empower you to guard and guide your heart (Mk.9:29, Rom.1:4, Matt.7:7). This is because the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak, and by your own strength, you cannot prevail over the forces of satan, sin and the world.
You must understand that the battle of life is essentially the battle of the mind, and it is spiritual. If the spirit of your mind is secured with the word of God, you will win in life and live a fruitful life as the good and godly husbandman, bringing glory to Jesus Christ.
Hallelujah!
