As the husbandman, prayer is not what you think you should do, but what you must do. Prayer is to your existence what water is to fish. This is why Jesus Christ says that men must pray always (Lk.18:1).
Over the next few days, we shall be exploring the power of prayer. I pray that the spirit of grace and supplication will be poured upon you and I to enable us pray effectively and live a victorious life.
Let us begin by establishing a Scriptural truth from the Word of God about prayer, so that the seed of faith can be planted in your heart to know that God answers prayers.
Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it, the Lord is his name. Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not (Jer.33:2-3)
God is committed to answering you when you pray according to His perfect will. So, you must be assured that your heavenly Father will answer you when you call on Him.
But why is prayer and praying effectively very important to me?
Firstly, God wants you to do His perfect as the man, husband and father. And prayer is a fundamental weapon through which you can do the perfect will of God (Gal.4:19). A lot of the times, your spirit is willing to obey God’s commands but your flesh is weak (Matt.26:41).
Secondly, God wants you to have and maintain a healthy relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ because He made you in His image and (Gen.1:26-28, Gen.2:14-15).
Thirdly, God is your shepherd and you are the sheep. You are the sheep of God’s pasture (Ps.23:1). God wants to guide, instruct and teach you because He knows that you cannot lead yourself to the glorious destiny He has ordained for you before you were born (Rev.5:10-12).
Fourthly, praying for yourself aligns your thought, actions and conduct with the Word of God (Philp.4:8).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to function as the man.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide me by Your word to do Your will as the man.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to keep my prayer altar burning as theman.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am made in the image and likeness of God and I take responsibility to seek fellowship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ and to always do His perfect will as the man because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.

Lord, Jesus, I come to you today, just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
