Bible Texts: Philp.4:9, Eph.6:4, Gen.18:19, Acts 1:1, Pro.29:15, Jos.24:15
Today’s teaching is anchored in Philippians chapter 4 and verse 9, with light that will help every husbandman to realign and reappraise his role as the father. I pray in the name of Jesus, you shall not fail as a father to your children and to your wife.
I want you to know that as a father, you have the greatest influence over your children; not satan, not sin, and not the world. Why? It is because your children are gifts from God to you, and they came through your loins (Ps.127:3).
But your power to influence your children is built on the combination of these four pillars derived from the Word of God.
Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do, and the God of peace shall be with you (Philp.4:9)
What you teach them! You cannot give what you don’t have, and it is what you teach them that they reproduce. The question to you is this: what are you teaching your children?
What you give to them! What are you giving to your children? Is it the gift of righteousness and salvation or the gift of sin and its attractions?
What you say to them! What are you saying to your children? Are your words encouraging or destructive? Are they filled with grace or full of thorns?
What you do to them! What are you doing in the presence of your children or in their absence by your conduct? Does your conduct and relationship with them reflect the image and likeness of Jesus Christ?
As the husbandman, you must pay attention to what you teach, give, say, and do to your children by aligning with the Word of God, because that is the way you influence them unto the way and admonition of the Lord. And that is what makes you the good and godly father.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for not taking responsibility to be the good and godly father to my children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to teach, give, say, and do as the good and godly father will do to my children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, grant me the grace to continue to be a true reflection of Jesus to my children so they become like Christ.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am committed to teach, give, say, and do what the Word of God commands me to do as the father to my children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Prayer of Salvation/Rededication
Now that you have read the devotional, you need to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (1Tim.2:4). It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
Please, pray this prayer of salvation in faith.
Lord Jesus, I come to you today just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
