Fasting Empowers Your Headship

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Mk.9:26-29

More Scriptures: 1Cor.7:5, 2Cor.6:5, Ac.13:3

One of the greatest disasters confronting husbands these days is their inability to deny themselves food for some hours/days. Most husbands have become slaves and servants to food instead of master over food. To this end, they have become like ordinary leaders without power and authority. This is why the Scripture in Philippians 3:19 is very important. You must understand who you really are as the husbandman. As the head of your family fold, you function at multi-levels. You are a shepherd, a pastor, a priest, a prophet, a bishop and an evangelist. As the pastor, you guide, lead and teach your flock (Eph.5:25-28, Eph.6:4). As priest, you stand in the gap, interceding on their behalf until Christ is formed in them and see that they fulfill their glorious destinies (Ezk.22:30, Gal.4:19, Lk.1:8-9). As a prophet, you declare the counsel of God over their lives and see it happen after the order of Prophet Samuel. So, you stand on the word of God and make pronunciations over your wife and children concerning their health, marriage, career, finances, relationships, spiritual life and much more. As a bishop, you take responsibility over their lives and as an evangelist, the life of Christ in You speaks loudest in their lives. It is a great task to become a good and godly husband. And it is impossible to fulfill these functions by your strength (Zech.4:6)

This is why fasting is a requirement. You must set aside days of the week when you wait on the Lord in a fast. You must not allow your stomach to control your life. You are essentially a spirit being (Gen.2:7) and it takes spiritual empowerment to function in your office. And that comes by engaging in all spiritual exercises including fasting. Every time you fast, study and meditate on the word of God, you gain revelations. You are also empowered to deal with those issues that have refused to go. When you cannot abstain from food for some days then you are a child and not a leader. You need power to function as a good and godly husband and fasting is the way to go.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of the flesh.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to discipline my body.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to become a man of authority and power.

FAITH CONFESSION

I exercise control over my stomach and exercise myself unto fasting, prayer, word and meditation because that is what puts me in command of my family fold as a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
