Starve What You Don’t Like

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Lk.22:46.

More Scriptures: Rom.8:13, Gal.6:8, Gal.5:1

Just when I was about to conclude the devotional for the month, my Teacher, the Person of the Holy Spirit, asked me to share my personal testimony of how I have been able to overcome temptation. I pray that as you read it, you will be empowered to live above sin and temptation. Sometime in the month of January 2018, I received a message from one of the contacts the Mission sends the daily devotional to. What we do is to broadcast the devotional on all available platforms including messenger. We are driven by the will of God for man from Hab.2:14. And by the grace of God, we receive positive responses from readers from everywhere, testifying how God has blessed them through the devotional. One of the readers who resided in the United Kingdom responded and wanted to know more about the Mission. So, the conversation began with very simple questions from her. But as the conversation progressed, I observed that the tone of the message from her began to drift from the core- The Husbandman Mission International and what it represents. I knew that this was a temptation. So, by the help of the Holy Spirit, I adopted the strategy I heard from Pst. Paul Enenche, the Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Center, Abuja, Nigeria   sometime back. He said, “what you feed grows, and what you starve dies”.

So, I began to starve the conversation by not responding to her questions anymore. She sent more questions but never got answers. And in the process of time, the messages stopped coming and that killed the conversation forever. It will interest you to know that I informed my wife from the very first day of the conversation with this strange woman. It is often said that what you will not eat, don’t smell. As the husbandman who wants to be good and godly, you must define where the boundaries start and stop in your dealings with the opposite sex. You must also draw the lines where you must not cross and where you will not allow others to cross. As the head of your family, you will be tempted. But The Scripture says that can you take a coal underneath your bosom and not be burnt? You cannot toy around with sin and not be stained. You must be firm in righteousness and stand to please Jesus Christ rather than your flesh which offers you immediate gain but eternal damnation. Be godly.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus empower me to starve my desires for the things of the flesh.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to disconnect from ungodly relationships.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, plant my feet upon the rock of righteousness and holiness.

FAITH CONFESSION

I starve my ungodly desires until it dies because I am determined to be a good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus Name. Amen.
