Your Life Are In Three Words

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Rom.13:11-14

More Scriptures: Heb.12:2, Ps.51:10, 1Pet.3:7

As the head of your family and the shepherd over your sheep, how best would you summarize your life? Would you conclude that your life is about what you will eat, drink, the clothes you wear or the place you live? You must understand that living a comfortable life and having the best of life is not wrong in itself. It is the will of God for you. But as the head of your family and the person whom God has entrusted His treasures-your wife and children, there is more to your existence than food, clothing and shelter. And that is what the Word of God tells you in Rom.13:11-14. And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep, for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lust (Rom.13:11-14).

From the Scriptures above, there are three things that you must do to make the greatest impact as a good and godly man, husband and father. The first is that you must awake from giving excuses for not behaving like a good and godly husband to taking full responsibility for being the head of the family. The second is for you abandon those negative and ungodly habits and lifestyles that have continued to degrade your worth as a man, husband and father. You must make a decision to stop your drinking habits. You must stop abusing your wife and children physically and emotionally. You must stop that adulterous relationship with that woman that is not your wife. You must stop holding bitterness and malice against your flock. You must stop patronizing prostitutes, and the beer parlour. The third is for you to put on Jesus Christ in the way you treat your wife and children. You should be the Bible that your wife and children would like to read. The words of your mouth and your conduct must reflect the nature and character of Jesus Christ, who is the true representation of how a good and godly husband must act. This is why the Bible requires you to look unto Jesus Christ, the Author and Finisher of your faith (Heb.12:2).

You occupy a privileged position as the head of your family. And God and your sheep expect so much more from you. God wants you to influence your wife and children for Him. God wants you to lead your sheep to green pastures (Ps.23:1-2). So, He wants you to accomplish great things in your family fold through your godly lifestyle. Therefore, take responsibility for leading your sheep, abandon those ungodly lifestyles, and embrace the nature of Jesus Christ.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to awake to my responsibility as the head of my family.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome ungodly habits and undisciplined lifestyles.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live out Your nature in all areas of my relationship.

I purpose in my heart to awake to my responsibility, abandon undisciplined habits and put on the nature of Christ in all my dealings with my sheep because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
