Don’t submit to any lie of the devil that untimely death of your wife or children is acceptable. Don’t submit to the lie of the devil that divorce is the best option for you or your wife. God hates to see your family disintegrated (Mal.2:16). He wants you to be united with your sheep in truthfulness, companionship, love and peace. God has given you your wife and children to enjoy. Do not let anyone or anything steal them from you.
Now that you know your true worth as the head of your family, there are three action points that you must take to activate the great potentials that God has put inside of you. The first is that you must be born again and continue to deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ. New birth connects you to the nature of Christ and that is what helps you to be like Him to your wife and children. Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again (Jn.3:7). In 2Cor.5:17, the Bible says that if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away behold all things have become new. This demands that you get a Bible, study it, meditate on it and pray with it. The second step is that you must be thirsty and desperate to become all that God has ordained you to be. Right from when I was in college, I was thirsty to know what was required to be the godly husband. And this desperation motivated me to read books and ask questions. Jesus speaking said, blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled (Jn.5:6). Thirdly, you must give yourself to the lifestyle of fasting and prayers. Being the good and godly husband is tough. It is demanding. And if you are not helped by God, you will collapse under the weight of the pressure. This is why you need power from God and you can access this power through prayer with fasting. For this kind goeth not forth except by fasting and prayers (Mk.9:29). You need the power of God at work in your life to lead your wife and children in the way and admonition of the Lord in the times we are in. Satan, sin and the world are piling pressures on the sheepfold. There is so much peer pressure that is trying to pull our sheep away from our camp. You and I cannot think we can win by our strength. We can win by the force of the Spirit, and fasting and prayers unlock that power in our favour.
God has great plans for you and your sheep. He has sent you to your wife and children to be a blessing to them. Become all that God has made you and you will be glad you did.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a fruitful vine to my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the power to be function as the good and godly shepherd in my sheepfold.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every careless living.

I am empowered by God through the Holy Spirit to function maximally as the good and godly husband in my sheepfold in Jesus Name. Amen.
