THE EIGHT COMMANDMENTS (7)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: John 10:1-end

More Scriptures: John 10:14, 1Peter 3:7, 1Thessalonia 4:4

Praise God! The last six (6) days have been times of refreshing for the husbandman. I have no doubt in my heart that the Person of the Holy Spirit has shown greater revelation and by it you will be empowered to become the good and godly man, husband and father to your wife, children and the world. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that your encounters shall be evident for all to see that you are the good shepherd. The seventh (7) command is from the 14th verse of John chapter 10. And this is it. The shepherd must have A SOUND AND WORKING KNOWLEDGE OF THE SHEEP AND BE INTIMATE WITH THEM.  I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me (John 10:14). A lot of the times, the reason why you struggle to relate with your wife and children in the way that God intends is because you lack a working knowledge of who they are. As the head and spiritual authority of your family, you must appreciate the fact that it’s not just enough to know your sheep. It is much more important for you to have an updated knowledge of them. Let us look at two Scriptures. Likewise, ye husbands, DWELL WITH THEM (Your wife) ACCORDING TO KNOWLEDGE, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers be not hindered (1Peter 3:7). This requires you to have a working knowledge of your wife. The second is this. Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged (Colossians 3:21). This requires you to understand the personality of your child or children.  Many husbands are leading a family they do not know. They are in charge of sheep who do not know them. When a leader does not know his followers, he will continue to have problems leading them. You must understand that your wife and children have their peculiar times and phases in life. And as a leader, you must know these phases of their lives and help them overcome and become better people. But you may want to ask, how do I have a working knowledge of my sheep? Firstly, you must be observant. I have discovered that one of the best ways to learn about a people or place is through keen observation. So, the eyes that God gives to you is to watch and learn of your sheep. Even Jesus Christ, our Perfect example of the good and godly husband, related well with His followers by simply observing their conduct and mannerisms. Secondly, you must study about their personality. Everyone has his or her temperament induced by nature. It has both positive and negative sides. However, you can use the word of God and the weapon of deep intercession to align their lives to the very life of Jesus.  Thirdly, engage in constant effective communication with your sheep. Working knowledge keeps the fire glowing and puts you in charge.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me eyes that see and ears that hear.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me a learning and teachable spirit.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to lead my wife and children by the knowledge of Your word.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give attention to details about my wife and children from the WORD OF GOD and execute the instructions joyfully because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
