GOD’S MANUAL FOR YOUR FAMILY

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Genesis 3:12

More Scriptures: Ephesians 6:4, Deuteronomy 6:7, Colossians 3:19

Nearly all manufacturers attach a manual of operations to their products. This is intended to help the end user understand what the product is all about. Let me share how this is important. Sometime back I bought a refrigerator. It was installed and working perfectly well. So, on this particular day, I decided to read the manual carefully and I discovered that I could change the position of the door of the refrigerator from left to right or vice versa. It was an eye opener for me. So, if manufacturers understand the relevance of a manual, how much more God who founded the office of the husbandhood and gave it to you. And this is why I want us to examine the manual God has given to us as the husbandmen and shepherds of our sheep. The BIBLE.

I want to humbly submit to you that being a husband and the spiritual leader over your wife and children is not as difficult as you think. All that you require is the willingness on your part to take responsibility for leading your wife and children and give attention to the instructions from the manual-BIBLE- and not shift blames or even blame others. As the head of your family, you are bound to make mistakes as you lead your wife and children. It is okay if you make mistakes. What is not right is when you blame it on others. For example, you don’t commit adultery and blame it on your wife. That is not a sign of maturity as a leader. God’s word, the Bible, has provided very simple instructions for you. It says, love your wife and do not be bitter against her (Colossians 3:19). And God tells you how to love your wife in 1 Corinthians 13:4-8. Concerning your children, God said that you and NOT YOUR WIFE should nurture your children in the way of the Lord (Ephesians 6:4). The New International Version of the Bible says “Fathers, do not exasperate your children, instead bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord”. The word of God in Deuteronomy 6:7 shows how to nurture your children. And you shall teach them diligently unto your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up (Deuteronomy 6:7). But to enjoy the manual, you must accept that the manual is for your good. (Jeremiah 29:11). For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Secondly, you must accept God’s word as the final authority over your life as the man, husband and father. If you accept His word as final, you will trust Him in all things, all the way. And as you engage these two vital weapons, your home will be heaven on earth and you will enjoy your wife and children now and unto old age in Jesus name. Amen.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the Spirit of grace and humility to believe all Your commands in Your word.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, help to trust You all the way.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy pride and arrogance in my life.

FAITH CONFESSION

I uphold God’s word as the final authority in my life even as I lead my wife and children and I do all that the WORD commands me to do because I want to be the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
