JOB’S STAYING POWER

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Job 27:6

More Scriptures: Job 23:14, Job 33:4, Job 34:10

If you are a husband reading today’s devotional and you have concluded that life is not worth living, I want you to please wait for a moment to read the entire message for today. Or perhaps you have foreclosed on your sheep because of their misbehavior and decided that it is not worth being the godly husbandman anymore. I want to encourage you to spare a moment to read the subsequent teachings I will share with you. It is the staying power of Job. It is the story of Job and I am sure your case is not as bad as his, yet he survived it. Reading the Scriptures, three things were evident about Job. He was a man. He was a husband. He was a father. So, he bore the same nature with you-a man, husband and father. Sadly, challenges came. He was unhappy and sad with the situations around him. Now, to add insult to injury, his own wife advised him to curse God and die. This meant that the challenges he faced came from both internal and external sources.

That may be your story as the shepherd over God’s sheep in your custody. You may be experiencing very challenging times with your sheep. It may be from your in-laws. It could also be with your health, finances and business. It may be with your spiritual life. Whatever the case may be, I want you to align yourself with the staying power of Job. Now, what is that staying power of Job? It is the power of God in you. I will wait on God until my change comes…(Job 14:14). That is the attitude that I want you to have in the midst of your challenges. The staying power, which is trusting in God, makes you never to give up on your wife and children despite their misbehavior. It is the power of God at work in you that gives you strength to overcome the weaknesses, failures and inadequacies of your sheep and even yourself. Therefore, you must wait on God, trust Him to see you through.

You must understand that as the leader in your home, God has your back covered. He understands the challenges you are faced with. He recognizes that you may be overwhelmed with the pressure to function as the godly man, husband and father. For this reason, He has made Himself available for you. How? By calling on Him in prayers and praying in faith. This is what the Bible says about this. Call unto me and I will answer you and I will show great and mighty things that thou knowest not (Jer.33:3). You are encouraged to talk to God about your wife and children. Tell God how unhappy you are with His sheep and ask Him to give their hearts to you, and help you to teach and correct them on the right way to think, act and behave. God doesn’t want you to fail as the head of your family.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the Spirit of faith and trust so that I cannot give up on my sheep.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from weariness of the spirit and fear.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, restore my joy and peace as I lead my sheep.

FAITH CONFESSION

I stay with my wife and children notwithstanding their inadequacies or failure until I see them transformed unto godly vessels because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
