THE BLESSEDNESS OF VISION

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Jer.1:11-12

More Scriptures: Gen.1:2-3, Eph.1:18, Acts 26:18

Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said the Lord unto me, thou hast well seen for I will hasten my word to perform it. (Jer.1:11-12) KJV

A lot of times as the head of our families, we do not appreciate the importance and power of vision as one of the most crucial tools that help us to maximize our leadership role in the sheepfold. And this explains why so many husbands give up quite easily and quickly when they are faced with the challenges of life. Many more shepherds do not have any more reason why they must remain in the sheepfold and continue to lead their sheep. All of this is because the shepherd has no vision for his life and that of his sheep. It is for this reason that I encourage you to give attention to our main text today.

Prophet Jeremiah was ordained a prophet before his mother ever conceived him. God had made him a leader from the foundation of the world but he did not see what God was showing him, So God had to engage him. God asked him a simple question what do you see or better still what can you see?   And he responded that he saw an almond tree. God responded that he had seen well. With this understanding, he never gave up on his assignment as a prophet over the people of God.

You can also lead your wife and children without giving up on your role as the man, husband and father. It is true that you are under pressure to be a responsible shepherd to your sheep. It is also a fact that your wife and children are not making your role any better.  No matter what the challenges may be, you can sustain your shepherd hood by the power of vision. The vision that your sheep are wonderfully made and that your sheep is made of beauty and glory must dominate you.  So, what is the power that a godly vision for your family can have on your life, thereby making you to succeed as the godly man, husband and father? Firstly, vision allows you to see things not as they are but as He is. That is to say you see the good in your sheep and the God kind of love radiates through you to them. Secondly, it allows you to be filled with compassion and mercy and act positively to help them and make them better sheep. Thirdly, it gives you conviction to stand with your sheep despite their shortcomings and confidence to speak against every satanic force causing all the troubles in your sheepfold. Finally, it brings you fulfillment that you are a fighter and not a loser. Let this word of God dwell richly in you because where there is no vision, the people perish.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to have greater vision for my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with greater vision for my sheepfold.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the spirit of faith and boldness to stand firmly for my sheep and sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am filled with the vision of God for my wife and children and my sheepfold and by it I pursue God’s will for my life and sheepfold because that is what makes me the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
