SO, HE PRAYED FERVENTLY (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gen.20:17

More Scriptures: Gal.4:19, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29

A lot of the time as husbands and heads of our families, we tend to assume a lot about our flock. Most times, we leave the praying to our wives and even children. And in some cases, we become so relaxed and comfortable in our estate. But let us look at what we can learn from a good and godly husband, named Abraham. As he journeyed through the land of Gerar, he encountered a challenge. His wife was taken from him by Abimelech, the king of Gerar. Unfortunately, the king and his entire household came under the curse of the law. They were barren and unable to bear children. In this unpleasant situation, Abraham stepped in. So, Abraham prayed unto God and God healed Abimelech and his wife and his maidservants and they bear children. For the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife (Gen.20:17-18).

You must understand that as a husband, you are a rescue agent. You are the first responder in case of an emergency. You are a man of authority and power capable of defining what should and cannot happen. Whatever challenge you are being confronted with, whether with your wife, children or even family members, it can be resolved on the altar of prayer. The prayer altar is the place where you encounter the power of God. As the shepherd and pastor over your sheep, God is interested in you. He wants to have a quality relationship with you. He wants to work in you and through you to reach out to your flock and to those in desperate need for help. However, you must understand that you have to pray aright and according to the will of God. As the head of your family and the leader in your home, you must know the will of God for your wife and children. You must understand the provisions God has made in His word (Bible) for your flock. That is where the journey begins from.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to pray Your will for my flock.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, increase my faith in You and Your word.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, hear me when I call and speedily so.

FAITH CONFESSION

I come boldly and in faith to God even as I pray to Him concerning all things that pertain to life and godliness because that is what makes me a good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
