THEY WERE BLESSED AND NOT CURSED

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gen.1:26-28

More Scriptures: Gen.12:3, 3Jn.1:2, Num.6:22

Today’s message is to help reposition you as the spiritual head of your family so that you can rightfully take your place in your sheepfold. I pray in the name of Jesus that you will be willing to re-adjust your life to reflect the God-kind of authority in you.

As the shepherd over the sheep of God in your care, let us establish some truths that will help you appreciate your role as the man called to bless. The first is that you are made in the image and likeness of God (Gen.1:26). This means that you have the image of God and you have the innate capability to act like Him. The second is that God has bestowed on you authority and power (Lk.10:19). So, what then is the likeness of God?

And God blessed them……….. (Gen.1:28a). God blessed you and I. He did not curse us. He empowered us by His word. So, the question you and I must ask ourselves today is this? Do we bless our sheep or curse them? Do we empower them to become all that God has created them to be or we have become instruments of devaluing them? As the head of the family, you cannot bless (empower) your wife and children and you also will not be blessed. The Scripture says that he that watereth, him also shall be watered (Pro.11:25). In like manner, you cannot curse your wife and children and think you will be blessed.

So, how do you bless your wife and children? You bless your sheep principally by speaking God’s word in their direction. For instance, you may call your wife and children occasionally and declare what God’s word says about them. The Bible has so much that God says about your sheep. The Bible says that your wife shall be fruitful. It says concerning your children that the people shall acknowledge them as the seeds that the Lord has blessed. You have a personal responsibility to search the Bible for the promises of God, put them in your heart and consciously and by faith pronounce it upon your sheep. I speak the blessing to my wife and children every morning and also when I drop them off in school. I also take advantage of every opportunity to speak God’s word into their lives because the word of God is Spirit and life.

What happens when you bless your wife and children? There are four outcomes you will get from your sheep when you bless them. Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth and subdue it and have dominion over…..(Gen.1:28b). Firstly, your wife and children will be fruitful in every way possible. Secondly, they will experience positive increases in their endeavours. Thirdly, they will have the power to subdue negative influences, sin and the world. Fourthly, they will be in command of the circumstances of life-everywhere they go.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the name of Jesus, empower my tongue to speak Your will into the lives of my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver my tongue from speaking guile.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, honour Your word in my life, and the lives of my wife and children and sheepfold.

FAITH CONFESSION

I bless my wife and children with the fullness of the blessing of the Lord Jesus and by it they become blessed because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
