Bible Texts: Lk.19:1-4, Jn.3:3-5, Matt.5:14-16, Jn.10:10, Jn.14:6, Rom.12:21, Rom.5:5
And Jesus entered and passed through Jericho. And behold, there was a man named Zaccheus, which was the chief among the publicans and he was rich. And he sought to see Jesus who he was and could not for the press because he was little of stature. And he ran before and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him, for he was to pass that way (Lk.19:1-4)
You must forsake your sinful life and be born again by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal saviour (Jn.3:3-5). Secondly, you must work and walk in the light of the truth of the principles and precepts of Scriptures concerning your office as the manhood, husbandhood and fatherhood. Work out your salvation with fear and trembling…(Philp.2:12). Thirdly, you must overcome your sheep’s weakness, past errors and bad attitude with the love of Christ. Be not overcome by evil but overcome evil with good (Rom.12:21). Fourthly, you must walk in the love of Christ towards your wife and children. For the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given to us (Rom.5:5).
How would you feel if your wife or children makes you their reference when they talk about the goodness of God in their lives? Wouldn’t you be glad that God has worked through you to uplift them and change their stories from bad to good and from better to best? The honour and respect that you expect from your sheep is hidden in the way you are willing to be helpful to them. When you become the platform on which your wife and children can stand to scale life’s challenges, make positive progress in life, push through and overcome obstacles, they will forever hold you in reverence and respect.
You must always see yourself as the figurative sycamore tree for the good of your sheep. And as you become the sycamore tree for your wife and children, you will flourish in their hearts. They will remember you for good and tell of your goodness to others. They will sing your praises to high heavens and honour and respect you. And above all, God, your heavenly Father will be pleased with you.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, please make me a blessing and not a burden to my sheep.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every entrapment of satan, sin and the world.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to beautify the lives of my wife and children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I make a commitment today to be a blessing and not a burden to my wife and children because I am the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
