Spread the love

Bible Texts: Eph.4:32, Rom.12:15, Rom.8:26, 1Cor.2:16, Gen.1:26-28

Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgive you (Eph.4:32).

Secondly, you must be tender-hearted towards your wife and children. To be tender-hearted is to be easily moved to love, pity or be compassionate. This is why the word of God says, rejoice with them that rejoice and sorrow with them that sorrow (Rom.12:15). No wonder Scripture tells us that Jesus Christ identifies with our pains and He also bears them with us. In Rom.8:26, the Bible says, likewise the Spirit also beareth our infirmities (Rom.8:26).

Thirdly, you must learn to forgive and forget the offence of your wife and children. It is human to forgive and not forget but it is supernatural to forgive and forget. For I will forgive their wickedness and remember their sins no more (Heb.8:12). Because you are made in the image and likeness of God (Gen.1:26-28) and you have the mind of Christ (1Cor.2:16), then you have the power to forgive and forget all the offences and hurt your wife and children may have done to and against you. God wants you to love your sheep unconditionally. God wants you to demonstrate His nature and character to your wife and children and be kind, tender-hearted and forgiving towards them.

However, you will need the empowerment of the Holy Ghost to walk in the light of the truth in Ephesians chapter 4 and verse 32. This is important because the Bible says so. It is not by power nor by might but by the Spirit saith the Lord (Zech.4:6). This is why Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, says that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak (Matt.26:41). And one key platform you must engage to generate the power you need to reflect the character of Jesus Christ to your wife, children and in the market place of life is prayers.

Prayer is a powerful weapon of empowerment. When you pray to God, you connect to the power of the world to come. It is written, and I have tasted the goodness of God and the powers of the world to come (Heb.6:5). Prayer provides you supernatural enablement to love your sheep rather than hate them, forgive them when they offend you, and be kind to them when they do not deserve it. You are made in the image and likeness of Jesus Christ. Become like Him to your wife and children.

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to develop godly character as the good shepherd.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy the root of corruption and ungodliness in my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, break the power and influence of satan, sin and the world in my life.

I have the mind of Christ, and my thoughts, words, conduct and action toward my wife and children reflect the character of Jesus Christ in Jesus name. Amen.
