I PRAY FOR THEM (1)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Jn.17:9, Heb.6:5, Gal.4:19, Mk.9:29, Job 22:28

I pray for them. I am not praying for the world, but for those you have given me, for they are yours. All I have is yours, and all you have is mine. And glory has come to me through them. (Jn.17:9-10) NIV.

The introduction to this Bible passage in John chapter 17 and verses 9 to 10 is fundamental to the success of the good and godly husbandman. Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, gives you and I an example. He said, “I pray for them”. He prayed for His disciples, whom God gave to Him despite their obvious weaknesses. Thomas was a doubter. He only believed when he saw. Peter was hot-temper and always argued. Matthew was a tax collector, who did shady deals. But the consequence of Jesus’s prayers for His disciples was the exploits they did in Acts of the Apostles.

Your wife and children belong to God. God gave them to you to nurture, build and develop. He trusts you and has confidence that you will discharge your duties as the good and godly man, husband and father. And one of the principal ways you can achieve the task of leading your wife and children and make the best of your leadership role in the sheepfold, is through intercession. You must pray for your wife. You must pray for your children. Just today in my quiet time, I prayed for my wife for wisdom and strength. I asked the Lord Jesus to help her to succeed in her pursuits. I prayed for my children. I asked God to manifest Himself in their lives and in every aspect of their endeavours. You can intercede for your sheep. It is not late to do it.

Prayer is a powerful weapon of empowerment. When you pray to God, you connect to the power of the world to come that makes the good and godly changes you would like to see happen to your wife and children. It is written, and I have tasted the goodness of God and the powers of the world to come (Heb.6:5). Prayer provides you supernatural enablement to rescue, recover and restore the glorious dignity, plans and purpose of God for your wife and children. Pray for your sheep. It is a profitable investment that will yield greater harvest for your sheep and yourself.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, set me on fire for a life of prayer for my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to pray aright and according to Your will.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, hear me when I call on You on behalf of my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I pray for my wife and children with love and passion because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
