Bible Texts: Heb.12:1-3, 1Cor.6:15, 1Cor.10:7, Rom.12:1, Phlip.4:8

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart. (Heb.12:1-3) NIV.

Yesterday, we started by laying the foundation of how you can lead your wife and children and enjoy leading them successfully. We said that you must consider your wife and children before you act, say or do anything. Consider your ways…….(Hag.1:7). Examine yourself…(2Cor.13:5).

In Philippians chapter 4 and verse 8, the word of God says this about what you must consider before you act. Whatsoever is lovely, whatsoever is pure, whatsoever is of good report, if there be any virtue, think on these things (Philp.4:8). This is important because from the day you start leading your sheep, you cease living for yourself but for them. And if you have this understanding, you will work to please them and not hurt them. This will bring peace and harmony in your home and between you and your wife and children.

The second action step is to consider yourself. I want you to take a moment and ask these questions. Do I feel good when I do the wrong thing? Am I proud of my action if it is exposed to the public? How do I feel if I am the person to receive the treatment I want to give? The golden word of Scripture says, and just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them (Lk.6:31).

Finally, consider Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. Will Jesus Christ be pleased with your action, conduct and speech? If Jesus Christ were in the circumstance that you are in, what will He do? Your life is to please Jesus Christ. Therefore, I exhort you, brothers, through the compassions of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy to God, well pleasing, which is your reasonable service (Rom.12:1) Berean Literal Bible.

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, delivery my feet from failing and falling.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to lead my wife and children successfully.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me grace and help me to be the good and godly leader.

I exercise myself in the truth of God’s word and I provide good and godly leadership to my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
