KEEP LEARNING TO CONTINUE TO GROW

Spread the love

Bible Texts: 2Tim.2:14-15, Dan.9:2, Jn.6:63, Philippians 3:10, Heb.11:3

As the good and godly husbandman who wants to grow and be the best man, husband and father, you must keep studying the word of God to learn of His principles guiding your roles. And this is I want us to consider the Bible passage in 2Timothy chapter 2 and verses 14 to 15.

KEEP REMINDING GOD’S PEOPLE OF THESE THINGS. Warn them before God against quarreling about works. It is of no value and only ruins those who listen. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth (2Tim.14-15) NIV. The King James Version puts it this way, study to show thyself approved unto God as a workman who is not ashamed but rightly dividing the word of truth.

As the head of your family, it will be very difficult for you to retain your usefulness in your family fold without sharpening your leadership skill through the word of God. That is why the word of God commands you to, Study to show thyself approved as a workman who is not ashamed but rightly dividing the word of truth (2Tim.2:15).

Personally, I keep going back to my Bible and my notes to remind myself of my role as the head of the family. My desire is to be a better man, husband and father to my wife, children and in the market place of life. This has and continues to help me improve in my covenant roles and responsibilities as the good and godly husbandman.

But how do I sharpen my leadership skill for a profitably work as the good and godly man, husband and father? Firstly, you must accept that the largest room is the room for improvement. This means that you must accept and be willing to give yourself to continuous learning. Apostle Paul said, “that I may know Him”. You must daily crave to want to know more about Jesus Christ and what He will do if He were physically here on earth in your position. You must never be comfortable with where you are and with the knowledge that you have. If you do, you will become like the object that is not sharpened and is put to work.

Secondly, you sharpen your leadership skill by giving attention to reading your Bible as a way of life. The Bible tells us the “word of God is spirit and truth (Jn.6:63)” and by “the word of God, the world was framed (Heb.11:3)”. Finally, buy and read Christian motivating and inspiring books. Daniel said, “I Daniel understood by books (Dan.9:2). If you can invest as little as 25% of what you spend on recharging your phones in seeking knowledge, you would have experienced tremendous transformation as the good and godly husbandman.

Keep sharpening your leadership skill and watch how you would have recreated a glorious destiny for your life, wife and children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, break the power of pride in my life.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the spirit of humility and a learning heart.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to keep seeking to know You and my roles as the godly man, husband and father.

FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself to learning and continuous learning in order to strengthening my leadership skill because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children, in Jesus name. Amen.
