SPEAK LIFE, NOT DEATH TO THEM

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Gen.1:1-3, Jn.6:63, Is.43:26, Num.14:28, Rom.12:21, Col.4:6, Job 6:25, Num.6:22-24, Gen.1:31

I want to begin today’s devotional by sharing with you what my Teacher and Helper, the Person of the Holy Spirit, taught me from Genesis chapter 1 and verses 1 to 3. In August 30, 2015, the Holy said and I quote, every word spoken by the husbandman on the basis of the word of God brings order into the lives of a chaotic wife, children and circumstances.

There is something I want to emphasis to you as the head of your family and the spiritual leader of your wife, children and sheepfold. Your most singular weapon needed to bring order into the lives of your wife and children is the SPOKEN WORD OF GOD.

In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth (Gen.1:1).  God had a beautiful creation at the beginning. But something happened. The earth was without form and void and darkness was upon the face of the deep and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (Gen.1:2). Now, consider this for a moment. What did God do when what He created suddenly became dark, void and shapeless?

Has your wife, whom you have always known to be a hospitable, faithful and submissive, suddenly turned out to be disrespectful and full of darkness? Or have you children, who were once a delight to behold veered off the track of good to the track of rebellion and ungodliness? I have good news for you. It is found in verse 3 of Genesis chapter 1. God faced similar situation like you are facing presently but He did something different. And that is what the Person of the Holy Spirit wants you to do today and going forward. And GOD SAID, LET there be light, and THERE WAS LIGHT (Gen.1:3). God spoke the word. He commanded a change. He did not beg the situation. He spoke what He wanted into the chaotic situation. And as He kept speaking to the dark circumstances, suddenly everything turned out to be very good (Gen.1:31).

Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, did exactly what God did. When the storm came while Jesus was in the boat, He spoke to the turbulence, “peace, be still and there was a great calm”. When they brought to Him the sick and those oppressed of the devil, He spoke life to them. He commanded the devil to get out of their lives. Even when they brought the woman caught in adultery, Jesus spoke life and not death to her. Jesus said to her, ‘I condemn you not, go and sin no more’.

The Bible has set for you and I examples to follow. If we follow the footsteps of God our Father, and Jesus Christ, the good Shepherd, we will undoubtedly get the same results they got. Do not fold your arms and watch your wife and children go down the path of destruction. You are their watchman sent by God. Speak right words into their lives. Speak the word of God, which is life, into their lives because according to the word of God, right words are forceful (Job.6:25).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, sanctify my tongue and let it speak faith rather than fear.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, re-order my speech aright toward my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver my tongue from ungraceful and hurtful words.

FAITH CONFESSION

I always speak faith-filled and pleasant word to my wife and children in all things because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
