Praise God! Yesterday, by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, you and I understood that following the footsteps of Jesus Christ in leading our sheep is the surest way to becoming the good and godly husbandman. I pray, in the name of Jesus, that you will keep following the examples of Jesus Christ, as you relate with and lead your wife and children. Amen.
However, you must understand that as you lead your wife and children as Jesus would, they may not live up to your expectation. Your wife and children may misbehave, disappoint you, disrespect you, dishonour you and even rebel against you. And you may think your wife and children are your enemies. I want you to know that your real enemy is satan, sin and the world. The misbehavior of your wife or children is rooted in the operation of the devil. Satan is the person instigating and influencing them to do the things that you don’t like. In Ephesians chapter 2 and verse 2, the word of God says, wherein in time past, ye walked according to the course of this world according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience (Eph.2:2).
Remember the encounter Jesus Christ had with one of His disciples. This disciple began to misbehave before Jesus. Rather than Jesus to deal with him, He commanded the spirit instigating him to misbehave to get out of him. And Peter took him (Jesus) and began to rebuke him (Jesus), be it far from thee, Lord, this shall not be unto thee. But he (Jesus) turned and said unto Peter, get thee behind me satan. Thou art an offence unto me……..(Matt.16:23).
Whatever you notice about your wife and children that is ugly and ungodly is coming from the devil. It is spiritual corruption. All the troubles you are having with your wife and children are intended by the devil to destroy your glorious family life. Satan came but to steal, to kill and to destroy….(Jn.10:10). The ultimate purpose of satan, sin and the world, is to steal the peace and friendship you are enjoying with your wife and children, kill the joy that fills your home and destroy your home.
Neither your wife nor children is your enemy. Satan, sin and the world is. You must fight the forces of satan rather than fight your wife and children. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places (Eph.6:12). Physically and emotionally abusing your wife and children and denying them of your good benevolence is not the solution. God has ordained your home and family to be a garden of honour and blessing. So, your fight is not against your wife and children but against those forces influencing them to misbehave.
But how do I beat the enemies of their souls? You beat the enemy by taking your wife and children up in prayers and fasting (Mk.9:29, Lk.18:1). This means you engage the weapon of heartfelt intercession to deliver them from ungodly habits and attitudes. I travail in prayers until Christ of formed in you (Gal.4:19). Prayer remains your most potent weapon to keep your position as the head of the family intact and the lives of your wife and children in perfect peace and away from ungodly influences. Therefore, the next time your wife and child misbehave, bind the devil and its operations.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to deal with the enemy of the souls of my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, reveal to me the trick of the devil, responsible for my wife and children’s ungodly attitude.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me victory and hear me whenever I lift my wife and children in prayers

I take my rightful place as the godly husbandman, and I contend with the forces influencing my wife and children not to live a good and godly life in Jesus name. Amen.
