PUT A CALL TO JESUS CHRIST, FIRST

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Ps.18:3, Ps.102:2, Ps.86:7, Ps.116:13, Jer.33:3, Matt.7:7-8, Matt.11:28-30, Lk.18:1, Gal.4:19, Is.1:18-20

As the good and godly husbandman, who do you call first, when you have challenges with your wife and children? This is because, who you call first defines where your loyalty lies. So, these are the questions I want to ask you today.Where does your loyalty lie as the head of your family? Does it lie with your friends, parents or relations? Or does it lie with Jesus Christ.

Many husbandmen would first call their mother or father or even friends when they have unpleasant challenges with their wife and children rather than call on God, through Jesus Christ. God wants you to call on Him, first. This is the way to go as the head of your family in resolving whatever challenges are before you. As the spiritual leader over your wife and children, God has the answer to all the challenges in your home. He made you the head and not your parents or friends. He has the answers to the questions bothering you. This is why the Scripture says, CALL UNTO ME AND I WILL ANSWER YOU AND I WILL SHOW GREAT AND MIGHTY THINGS THAT THOU KNOWEST NOT (JER.33:3). In Matthew 7:8, the Bible says, for every one that asks receives, and he that seeks finds and to him that knocks it shall be opened (Matt.7:7-8).

There is nothing wrong with receiving counsel from human vessels, especially when they are ordained of God. But you must understand that your greatest Counselor is the Person of the Holy Spirit. He is your help line in times of emergency. Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest (Matt.11:28-23).

But how do you call Him as your first option? You call Him through prayer. For instance, you do not seem to understand why your wife is behaving so unruly or you cannot put your finger on why your children have become uncontrollable. You can pray like this, “Father, what is happening to my wife or child, show me what to do?The Bible says this regarding this prayer style. Come and let us reason together….(Is.1:18-20). This one sentence prayer does not escape the attention of God. It is an expression of your submission of your weakness to the strength and help of God. And no one comes to God and does not win over the challenges of life.

So, as the head of your family, your relationship with God must not be negotiated on the platform of anything (Lk.18:1). You must continue to develop a healthy relationship with God and His word (Jesus Christ) and the Person of the Holy Spirit. The more you know God and His Word, the easier it becomes for you to put your first call to Him when faced with crises with your wife or children. Call Jesus Christ, first because He is the way, the truth and the life.

Spiritual Exercise

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to call on You, first before anyone else.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of hastiness and foolish speaking.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, please hear me when I call and help me to always remember to call You first in times of trouble.

Faith Confession

I will dial God’s emergency lines first as the husbandman before anyone else because He has the answer that will make me overcome the challenges in my home as the good and godly man, husband and father, in Jesus name. Amen.
