Bible Texts: 1Thess.2:11-12, Ps.23:4, Mk.9:2, Jn.3:16, Col.3:9, Eph.6:4
Today’s teaching says, “do these things for them”. The title which is inspired by the Person of the Holy Spirit is derived from the Scripture in 1st Thessalonians chapter 2 and verses 11 and 12. So, starting from today, you must decide to start doing the right things to your wife and children. But what are the right things I must do to my wife and children?
As ye know how we exhorted and comforted and charged every one of you, as a father doeth his children. That ye would walk worthy of God, who hath called you unto his kingdom and glory (1Thess.2:11-12).
The Bible passage gives three things or actions you and I must take and continue to take as we lead and relate with our wife and children. It says, as ye know how we EXHORTED and COMFORTED and CHARGED everyone of you as a FATHER DOTH HIS CHILDREN. The word of God says, you must exhort, comfort and charge your wife and children just like fathers do to their children. You must recognize that as the good and godly husbandman, you are both the physical and spiritual father of your wife and children. You are the covering over their lives. Infact, you are their shepherd. As the good shepherd, you are to exhort, comfort and motivate your wife and children. You are to encourage them and not discouraged them. You are also to comfort them when they hurt mentally, emotionally, physically, spiritually and in any other area possible. You are also to inspire and motivate them notwithstanding their failures.
However, if you must exhort, comfort and motivate your wife and children as the good and godly father indeed, you must take these practical steps. The first and most important step to take is for you to take charge of your family and refuse external and ungodly influences. Let satan and the whole world know that you are in charge of your family kingdom. …..I came that ye might have life and have it more abundantly (Jn.10:10b). You must not look or act like someone who is being begged to be a father or lacking in knowledge of what to do.
Secondly, you must search the Bible by yourself to know. Search the Scriptures for in them ye think ye have eternal life (Jn.5:39). In Joshua chapter 1, the word of God says, this book of the law shall nor depart out of your mouth but thou shall meditate on it day and night ……..for then thou shall make thy way prosperous (Jos.1:8). The more you know the word of God, the better you are positioned to exhort, inspire, motivate and encourage your wife and children.
Thirdly, you must ask the Person of the Holy Spirit to teach you how to encourage, motivate and inspire your wife and children. I will send the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, he will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all things…..(Jn.14:26).
You have a great destiny on earth. You have important roles to play in the lives of your wife and children. God has rightly placed you over them so that you can do those things He would do. You must daily make your life count positively in their lives because that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to exhort, inspire, encourage and motivate my wife and children.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to take delight in studying Your word and to love it.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with supernatural wisdom and help me to act as the godly husbandman.
FAITH CONFESSION
I have the mind of Christ and I am empowered to encourage, motivate and inspire my wife and children because that is my role as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
