AN APPRENTICE IN JESUS’S WORKSHOP

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Gen.1:26-28, Jn.15:1-3, 1Pet.5:6, Jn.14:26, Jas.4:10, Jn.14:6, Philp.2:5, Rom.13:11-14, Rom.12:2, Rom.12:21, Eph.5:25

A few weeks ago, the Person of the Holy Spirit began to teach me on the subject of apprenticeship. And in my quest to know more about who an apprentice is, I decided to check up the word in the dictionary. This is what I found out. An apprentice is a young person who works for an employer for a fixed period of time in order to learn the particular skills needed in their job. This definition exposes three vital characters of an apprentice. The first is that an apprentice is young. Secondly, an apprentice is a learner who wants to learn a skill. And thirdly, an apprentice is a worker. The ultimate purpose of an apprentice is to learn from the master, skills and knowledge which will be put to work.

As the good and godly husbandman, you are an apprentice in the workshop of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. You are the apprentice and Jesus Christ is the Master. Every skill, knowledge, information and examples you will require to succeed as the head of your family and as the godly man, husband and father is in Him. Jesus speaking said, take my yoke upon you and LEARN FROM ME, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest to your soul (Matt.11:29). If you want your wife and children, and the people around you to notice the life of Jesus through you and bring glory to His name, you must deliberately sign up for apprenticeship with Jesus Christ. You must remember that you are made in the image and likeness of God; hence you are like Jesus Christ to your wife and children (Gen.1:26-28).

But why must I sign up to become an apprentice in Jesus’s workshop? Firstly, it is because you are made in His image and likeness. What this means is that you have the nature God in-built in you and it is through Jesus Christ will you be able to manifest the godly characters. For it is Him giveth thee power both to will and to do of His good pleasure (Philp.2:13). In John Gospel chapter 15 and verse 5, the word of God says that without Jesus Christ, you can do nothing. You cannot be far from Jesus Christ and His word and expect to function like the godly man, husband and father to your wife and children. You must be in Him and He in you. If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature…. (2Cor.5:17).

Secondly, Jesus Christ has all the keys that will make you win every challenge as you lead your wife and children. The word of God tells us this much. Jesus speaking said, for I am the way, the truth and the life (Jn.14:6). Jesus Christ, the perfect example of how the good and godly husbandman behaves, is not just a way, a truth and a life. He is the way, the truth and the life. He can teach the truth, the wisdom and give you direction on how to function as the good and godly husbandman. So, the more you learn of Him and His ways, the more you are empowered to be like Him to your wife, children and in the market place of life.

You must remember that Jesus Christ is ever prepared and ready to accept and teach you as His apprentice. He said so in Jn.14:26. I will send the Comforter, the Holy Spirit. He will teach you all things…. (Jn.14:26). So, as you sign-up to seek to learn from Him, be rest assured that you will become a profitable vessel to God, your wife, children and in the market place of life.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

FAITH CONFESSION

I give myself to learn at the feet of Jesus Christ because that is what empowers me for a victorious life as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
