SPEAK RIGHT WORDS, RECONSTRUCT YOUR FAMILY

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Jas.3:2-8, Col.4:6, Philp.4:8, Pro.16:24, Jn.6:63, Rom.12:2, Jn.14:26

For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man and able also to bridle the whole body…….behold also the ships, which though they be so great and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth. And the tongue is a fire……. (Jas.3:2,3-5).

The above scripture talks about the smallest part of the human body yet possesses so much power that it can either make or destroy a people, a nation and a family. It is the tongue and what it can do. As the good and godly husbandman, if you have not learnt to bring your tongue under control and the influence of the Holy Spirit, you could speak words to your wife and children that can ignite negative sparks.

Let me begin by saying that many husbandmen have hurt their wife and children by the words of their mouth more than they have hurt them without giving them money or any other provision. Many more have lost their sheep by speaking wrong words that have gone to hurt them so deeply that they are struggling to forgive. This is why the message for today is timely for you from the word of God.

As the head of your family, you must discipline and bridle your tongue to reconstruct your words towards your wife and children. You can ignite positive wellness in your wife and children by reconstructing your words and speaking the right words to them. Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul and health to the bones (Pro.16:24). You begin to speak pleasant words to your wife and children, even when they have obviously failed. You tell them that they are not failures but a success. You tell them that God has made them to ride upon the high places of the earth. You tell them they are wonderfully and fearfully made. You tell them that they are the seeds that the Lord has blessed. You tell them they are honourable, bold and beautiful. You tell them they can be the best in life. You assure them that they can count on you for advice, help, comfort, counsel and support. These are the words that your wife and children want to hear and not abuses and insults that torture them and make them emotionally unstable.

But how do I reconstruct my words to become right words? The answer is found in Col.4:6. Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man (Col.4:6). Secondly, be filled and continue to be filled with Holy Ghost for empowerment to put your emotion under control (Jn.14:26).

Therefore, reconstruct the lives and destinies of your wife and children by speaking words of grace that is able to build them up.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to weigh my words against Your weight before I say them to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to have total control over my tongue that it may speak not guile.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to speak graceful words to my wife and children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I weigh my words on the measurement scale of Jesus Christ and by it I am empowered to speak seasoned and graceful word to my wife and children in Jesus Name. Amen.
