LIKE JESUS, YOU ARE THE SAFETY NET

Bible Texts: Jn.3:14-17, Gen.12:1-3, Jn.10:10, Eph.5:25, Jn.8:11, Jn.14:18, Jn.16:24, Matt.5:14-16, Num.6:22-24, Gal.4:19

Let’s begin today’s teaching by looking at Jesus’s words in John Gospel chapter 3 and verses 14 through 17, even as we trust the Person of the Holy Spirit to give us revelation knowledge to the end that we become good and godly husbandmen.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up. That whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved. (Jn.3:14-17)

Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman states two important positions He represents to the Church. The first is this. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up (Jn.3:14). Jesus Christ is lifted up for the good of mankind. For you, this means that God has lifted you to the lofty position as the head of your wife and children so that through you they can be saved.

The second is this. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through him might be saved (Jn.3:17). God sends Jesus Christ to the world so that the world can be saved. For you, God has not sent you to your wife and children to lead them to condemnation and destruction but to peace, safety and hope.

All of the above is what Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, came to do for the Church. Jesus Christ became the safety net for the church as the Bridegroom and so whatever Jesus Christ is to the church is what you are to your wife and children. ……as Christ has loved the Church and gave Himself to it (Eph.5:23-25).

You are the safety net of your wife and children. The coming of Jesus Christ brought joy to the world. Your life is to bring joy into the lives of your wife and children. God sent you to them as an agent of joy and not sorrow, burden lifter and not burden multiplier, hope and not discouragement, faith and not fear. You are not an instrument of unrighteousness but of good works. You are not ordained by God to lead your wife, children and family to destruction but to safety.

This Scripture will help your understanding of your position as the good and godly husbandman after the order of Jesus Christ. I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly (Jn.10:10). As the good and godly husbandman, you are the spiritual covering over your wife and children and sheepfold. You are a life giving agent and you must walk in this consciousness as you lead your life, your wife and children.

Therefore, awake from your slumber and take responsibility for the lives of the treasures that God has committed into your hands, so that your testimony will be like Abraham in Genesis chapter 12 and verses 1 through to 3. And through you shall the families of the earth be blessed (Gen.12:1-3).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to take my place in the lives of my wife, children and home.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to become a safety net indeed to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a life-given agent by Your word.

FAITH CONFESSION

I have the mind of Christ and I am a life-giving agent to my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus mighty name. Amen.
