PRODUCE GOOD WORKS AND LET IT SPEAK

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Jn.10:37-38, 1Tim.5:8, Col.3:19, 2Tim.3:5-7, Eph.6:4, 2Tim.2:6, Deut.6:7-8, Ps.23:1, Jn.10:10, Acts.10:32-35, Dan.1:8, Deut.28:1.

If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works, that ye may know and believe that the Father is in me and I in Him (Jn.10:37-38)

The foundation to today’s teaching is built on John chapter 10 and verses 37 through to 30. The Scripture speaks of the works that Jesus Christ did, which the people can see and testify of. Though some of the people did not believe in Jesus Christ, nevertheless they did not doubt the good works that He did. He raised the dead, healed the sick, made the lame to walk, made the blind to see, forgive those who fell into sin, provided inspiration and direction to those who are lost. Jesus’s good works spoke loudest before the people.

This is the message for you. You must do good works and allow your good works to speak loudest in the lives of your wife and children and others around you. If you say you are the good and godly husbandman, then it must show in your works. It must show in your speech, conduct, relationship and responses. Just like Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, had proofs of good works while He walked on earth, you must demonstrate good works as you lead yourself, your wife and children.

Meditate on this Scripture for a moment.

Ye are the salt of the earth……Ye are the light of the world…..Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which is in heaven (Matt.5:14-16).

But what does it take for me to do good works?

Firstly, you must be born again. That is, you must have a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ (Jn.3:7, 2Cor.5:17). Secondly, you must feed on the word of God as necessary food for the development of your inner man (Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15). Let this mind be in you, even the mind of Christ. The more you give attention to the study, meditation of the word of God, the more you grow in the knowledge of God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Thirdly, you must engage the weapon of prayer and fasting for empowerment to do good works (Mk.9:29). A lot of the times, the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak but with God’s power, you will be able to overcome the flesh and do good works (Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19). Finally, you must take steps to do good works and be committed to doing what God commands you to do (Dan.1:8, Deut.28:1).

Your wife, children and the marketplace want to see your good works. God wants to be glorified in your life by your good works because that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a fruitful vine as I lead myself, wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to take full responsibility to studying Your words and doing all Your commandments.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to do good works and let my life bring You glory and praise.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a fruitful vine and I produce good and profitable works because that is my heritage in Christ as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
