ARISE FROM YOUR SLUMBER AND BE WATCHFUL

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Mk.13:36-37, Lk.18:1, Am.6:1, Jn.10:1-3, Gal.4:19, Eph.5:16, Matt.26:41, Jn.14:26, Mk.9:29, Hab.2:1, Pro.20:12, Matt.13:16, Philp.4:8

The times we live in are interesting and challenging times for the husbandman. Knowledge is on the increase, and more people are becoming independent and gradually losing the essence of who they are in Christ, hence you must be careful and watchful, watching with the word of God and in prayers (Eph.5:16).

Lest coming suddenly he finds you sleeping. AND WHAT I SAY UNTO YOU I SAY TO ALL, WATCH (Mk.13:36-37)

Jesus Christ is calling on every husbandman to arise from his spiritual slumber and be watchful in prayers and carefulness.

As the husbandman, why must I watch in all watchfulness?

Woe unto them that are ease in zion (Am.6:1)

You must watch so that you do not go away from the values and principles of God that builds the good and godly husbandman. Many times, you are not aware that you have started doing things that are contrary to the instructions and commandments of God for you as the man, husband and father. And satan, sin and the world will give you reasons for disobeying God and His words. But with prayers and watchfulness, you become alert.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him, the porter openeth and the sheep hear his voice and he calleth his own sheep by name and leadeth them out (Jn.10:1-3)

You must also watch in all watchfulness so that you can continue to be the gatekeeper of the sheepfold of God in your custody and stop every form of ungodly influences from gaining access into the lives of your wife and children.

But how do I watch in all watchfulness?

Firstly, you must have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ by acknowledging your sins, confess them, repent of them and accept the Person of Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and personal saviour (Jn.3:3-8, 2Cor.5:17). Secondly, you must give attention to the study of the word of God, the Bible, and ask the Person of the Holy Spirit to help your understanding (Ezk.2:2, Jn.14:26, 2Tim.2:15). Each time you read and meditate on the word, with the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, He guides you and empowers you to learn new things and gain fresh revelation that will help you to know the perfect will of God for your life as the man, husband and father, which will ultimately make you to become the good and godly husbandman. Thirdly, you also watch by praying for yourself and praying for your sheep-wife and children so that you and your wife and children do not fall into temptation (Matt.13:16, Matt.26:41, Gal.4:19).

Therefore, you cannot afford to be careless in your journey to becoming the good and godly husbandman (Jn.10:10, Am.6:1). You must be intentional and watch with all watchfulness. Today, God is calling you to watch. Again, watch!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for being careless with my spiritual life and with my heart, eyes and ears.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus and by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, please, give me hearing ears and seeing eyes.
  • Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to continue to remain on the watchtower of prayer with all watchfulness in my journey as the good and godly man, husband and father.

FAITH CONFESSION

I stand upon my watch and set myself upon the tower of the Word of God and the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit to exercise watchfulness over my life as the man, husband and father so that I can become the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
