CULTIVATING THE ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE (3)

Bible Texts: Mk.6:30-44, Num.11:1, 1Thess.5:16, 2Thess.2:16, Philp.4:4, Philp.1:6, Eph.4:1-3, Eph.5:1-2, Ps.98:1, Hab.3:17-19, Matt.11:6, Ps.98:1, Ps.96:12, Ps.100:1-2, Is.61:3, Ps.119:89

As we conclude the teaching series on attitude of gratitude, let us acknowledge that there is a wrong and ungodly attitude that is taking a very stronghold of the husbandman in the times we are in and that is what by the grace of God and the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we shall be addressing today.

What then is the wrong and ungodly attitude? It is the twin attitude of ingratitude and complaining. And sadly, satan has used this wrong attitude to make the husbandman to be offended in God and His word.

But today, I want to share with you how you can develop an attitude of gratitude and access the fullness of God’s blessings for your life as the man, husband and father by looking at the event where Jesus fed 5,000 persons in Mark Gospel chapter 6 and verses 30 through to 44.

Jesus Christ had a long and tiresome crusade and the people who followed Him became hungry. They needed food to eat but there were two major challenges. The first was that it was already late in the day for them to buy food. The second was how much food will be required to feed everyone, including Jesus’s disciples.

The challenges were brought to the attention of Jesus Christ but what they had were two fishes and five loaves of bread a young lad had. Jesus requested that the two loaves of bread and five fishes be given to Him. In the meantime, others, including His disciples seemed to complain about the inadequacy of what was available to feed the people. Jesus directed everyone to sit down. He took what was available, that is the 5 loaves of bread and two fishes and lifted up it in thanksgiving. He gave thanks to God and distributed to the people. The food miraculously multiplied and increased for everyone to eat to their satisfaction with 12 baskets remaining (Mk.6:30-44).

What is the lesson you and I can learn as shepherds from this action of Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman?

The lesson is that whatever you don’t appreciate will diminish and whatever you celebrate and thank God for will appreciate. Regardless of the general circumstances, however, inadequate it seems, be it in your life as the man, husband and father or your resources (wife, children and material blessings) you must learn to give God thanks because the attitude of gratitude is your access to supernatural multiplication and increase.

And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord and the Lord heard it, and his anger was kindled and the fire of the Lord burnt among them and consumed them……….(Num.11:1)

God is displeased when you are not thankful. God wants you to be thankful for who you are, where you are, what you have and what He wants you to be as the man, husband and father. I pray, in the name of Jesus Christ, that every spirit of complaining and murmuring dies in everyone’s life and I release the spirit of gratitude and thanksgiving to you and remain with you all the days of your life. Amen.

Therefore, Rejoice, again I say rejoice.
