Bible Texts: Ecc.5:7, Pro.10:4, 1Tim.5:8, Eph.6:4, Gal.4:19, Lk.18:1, Col.3:19, 1Cor.13:4-9, Mk.9:29, 1Tim.6:12, 2Tim.2:15, Ps.24:1-3, Ps.1:1-3
Yesterday, we discovered in Scripture that the husbandman must take personal responsibility to build himself up, to know whom God has called him to be, and to align himself with the covenant demands of the good and godly man, husband, and father.
Today’s teaching reinforces that being the good and godly husbandman is a sacrifice that brings great gains. You cannot become the good and godly husbandman by chance or luck. Being the good and godly husbandman is not just in cheap talk but in hard work.
Talk is cheap, like day dreams and other useless activities. Fear God instead (Pro.5:7) NLT.
God wants you to be the good and godly husbandman (Matt.5:14-16, 1Tim.3:1-6, 1Pet.3:7, Col.3:19, 1Tim.5:8, Eph.5:25, Eph.6:4). That is His perfect will for you, but you must do what the Word of God requires to become the good and godly husbandman. That requirement demands your diligence, unwavering commitment, and sacrifice. Honestly, being the good and godly husbandman is a call to a higher life.
To love your wife as Christ has loved the church and given Himself to it, as clearly expressed in 1st Corinthians chapter 13, verses 4-8, and in Ephesians chapter 5, verse 25, is a ministry that demands significant commitment and sacrifice from you.
To balance your work life and busy schedules with training and nurturing your children in the way and admonition of the Lord, as stated in Ephesians chapter 6, verse 4, requires divine wisdom, diligence, and commitment from you.
To engage your mind and hand in honest work and earn a living so you can provide for your wife and your children, as their good shepherd, in obedience to the commandment of the Scriptures, is a sacrifice (Ps.23:1-6, 1Tim.5:8, 2Thess.3:10).
The above are proofs that being the good and godly husbandman is a ministry requiring diligence, commitment, and sacrifice. But thank God, because God’s grace is sufficient to help you do all that the Word commands you to do as the husbandman (Jn.14:26, Jn.15:5, Philp.2:13).
Therefore, being called the good and godly husbandman is more than a title or a position. It is walking in the fear and admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ, knowing and doing all that the Bible commands of you as the good and godly man, husband, and father.
Hallelujah!
