WALKING IN THE NEWNESS OF LIFE

Bible Texts: Lev.1:1-3, 2Cor.7:1, Rom.12:2, 2Pet.3:14, Ps.24:1-3, Dan.1:8, Rom.10:10, Ps.133:1, Ps.1:1-3, 1Cor.15:33, Rev.12:11

Because we have these promises, dear friends, let us cleanse ourselves from everything that can defile our body or spirit. And let us work toward complete holiness because we fear God (2Cor.7:1) NLT

As the husbandman, God wants you to live a new life in Christ Jesus and to present your life to Him as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable. Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, paid the price for your sins on the Cross of Calvary. When you receive the gift of salvation by accepting Him as your Lord and Savior, you receive the righteousness of God in Christ.

As the husbandman, drunkenness, stealing, adultery, lying, and physically or emotionally abusing your wife are actions that defile your body, while bitterness, malice, unforgiveness, envy, doubt, emotionally abusing others, pride, and bad will are all things that defile your spirit (Gal.5:22-23).

But walking in the newness of life in Christ Jesus requires your action.

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service (Rom.12:1)

To continue walking in the newness of life in Christ Jesus, you must maintain a healthy relationship with God through Jesus Christ (Jn.3:5-8, 2Cor.5:17).

You must identify with a Bible-believing church, where the truth of the word of God is taught (Ps.133:1, Jn.8:32).

You must devote your time to personal study of the Bible, meditating on the word of God and acting faithfully and consistently (Jos.1:6-8, Ps.1:1-3).

You must make a firm commitment to refrain from all forms of unrighteousness, just as Daniel determined in his heart not to defile himself with the king’s meat (Dan. 1:8, Gal. 4:19).

You must daily confess your righteous standing in God through the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary (Rom. 10:10).

You must identify with fellow husbandmen who bear testimony to a righteous walk with God because iron sharpens iron (1Cor.15:33).

You must daily plead the blood of Jesus Christ over your thoughts and actions so that they conform to God’s perfect will for you as the good and godly man, husband, and father (Rev. 12:11).

Hallelujah!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the Spirit of holiness and purity of heart, and let me speak the truth from my heart.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, cleanse my heart and my spirit man from every hidden sin.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart come to You as a sweet-smelling savour.

FAITH CONFESSION

I walk in the purity of my heart toward You and toward my wife and children because that is what creates a glorious pathway for me as the good and godly husbandman to my wife and children in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Prayer of Salvation/Rededication

Now that you have read the devotional, you need to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (1Tim.2:4). It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Please, pray this prayer of salvation in faith.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
