LET YOUR SOUL PANT AFTER GOD
Bible Texts: Ps.42:1, Ps.14:34, Matt.5:6, Rom.12:1, Heb.12:1-2, Rom.12:21, Rom.8:1, Eph.4:22-24, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.6:1-2, Is.51:1-2, Gal.3:13, 2Cor.9:8
Continuing in our teaching on living a life of holiness as the gateway to a life of peace, joy, and wisdom for the husbandman.
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God (Ps.42:1)
Just as you thirst after material things and have personal expectations, so God wants you to thirst after Him. David says, “as the deer pants for water so does his soul thirst for God”. David, like you and me, always wanted to please God sincerely because of the love he had for God. And this is why God referred to him as the apple of His eye and a man after His heart.
As the husbandman, what you pursue comes to you, and what you thirst after determines how much you are willing to give to quench that thirst. You must understand that your thirst to do what the Bible commands has an eternal impact on your life, the lives of your wife and children, and in the marketplace. To that extent, you must pursue righteousness and live your life to please God in all things (Matt. 5:6).
Abraham was a husband like you and I. But one thing that distinguishes him is his righteous walk with God (Gen.17:1-3, Gen.18:19). And by redemption, you and I have become the seeds of Abraham; hence we can live a righteous life (Gal.3:10-13). Your hallmark as the husbandman is holiness and righteousness.
Your heavenly Father wants the best for you. Therefore, let your soul keep panting after Him, and pursue righteousness in all things, always, and in every circumstance. That is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.
Hallelujah!

FAITH CONFESSION
