WATCH, CONTINUALLY!

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Mk. 13:36-37, Matt.15:11, Am.6:1, 1Cor.15:33, Matt.15:18, Jn.14:26, Heb.4:12, Mk.9:29, Gal.4:19, Philp.1:18-19, 2Cor.5:17

Watch ye therefore, for ye know not when the master of the house cometh at even or at midnight or at the cockcrowing or in the morning. Lest coming suddenly he find sleeping. And what I say unto you I say to unto all, watch (Mk.13:35-37)

It is very easy for the husbandman to fall into error if he is not careful and watchful. And this is why you and I must not be careless with what we allow into our hearts, speak with our mouths, and act upon. In all things that we do, we must exercise watchfulness. That is what Jesus Christ, Who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, is reminding you and I today.

But how do I maintain watchfulness, as the husbandman?

As the good and godly husbandman, you must watch the information you receive into your life through the books you read, the films you watch, and the messages you listen to (Matt.15:11-18). The information you receive into your inner man influences the quality of your thoughts, how you relate to your wife and children, and how you respond to issues of life.

You must continue to yield to the leadership of the Person of the Holy Spirit, so He can guide and lead you to know what is right from what is wrong (Jn.14:26, Heb.4:12).

You must keep studying and meditating on the Word of God, because by the Word of God, you know what God demands from you as the man, husband and father (Ps.119:105, Mk.9:29, Gal.4:19, 2Tim.2:15).

You must continue to engage the weapon of prayer and fasting, so you don’t fall into temptation (Mk.9:29, Lk.1:1). Jesus says, “watch and pray that ye fall not into temptation”.

If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature. Old things have passed away and behold all things are become new (2Cor.5:17)

You must recognize that you are now a new person in Christ, whose life reflects the nature and image of Jesus Christ, beginning from the home front to the marketplace. To keep enjoying the new life in Christ, you must keep continual watch over your life. That is the covenant responsibility you have, and that is what keeps you on track the glorious path of the good and godly husbandman.

Hallelujah!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the force of carnality.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be spiritual and continually be on the watchtower.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a profitable watchman.

FAITH CONFESSION

I maintain continued watchfulness over who I relate with, where I go, what I read, hear, and listen to so that my life can reflect the nature of Jesus Christ in thoughts, actions, and responses as I walk the pathway to becoming the good and godly husbandman in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Prayer of Salvation/Rededication

Now that you have read the devotional, you need to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ (1Tim.2:4). It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Please, pray this prayer of salvation in faith.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
