If You Pray, You Won’t Faint

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Luke 18:1

More Scriptures: Eph.6:18, Rom.12:12, 1Thess.5:17

As the heads of our families, should we pray for our sheep daily, weekly, monthly or as we see convenient? So, today, I am asking you the same question. When is the best time for you to pray for your wife and children? How often should the shepherd pray for his sheep? And when do shepherds stop praying for their sheep? If you study the life of Jesus, who is the perfect example of a good and godly husband, you will understand that He gave Himself continually to praying for His sheep. Even at the point of His death He prayed for the people. And when He was about to go to the Cross to die for you and I, He still prayed for the people (Jn.17). This is what informed Jesus’s admonition for us to always pray and not faint.

And he (Jesus Christ) spake a parable unto them to this end, THAT MEN OUGHT ALWAYS TO PRAY, AND NOT FAINT. (Lk.18:1). This is one of the most profound statements Jesus made concerning prayers. Jesus says that, if you don’t want to faint as the head of the family in times of challenges, you must continue to keep your prayer altar alive and burning. You must never be complacent with your prayer life. Most times when I counsel husbands that have challenges with their sheep, I discover that they are not spiritually rich. So when they come face to face with threats or challenges, they easily give in and surrender. They seem not to know what to do and how to resolve the challenge.

It is important to establish that the demands of a good and godly husband is so overwhelming- dealing with a disobedient wife, handling wayward children, nurturing your children in the way and admonition of the Lord, meeting the financial and material obligations of your sheep. The list seems to be endless. These are the reasons why prayer is an indispensable demand of your office as the head of your family. You must continue to engage the weapon of prayers as you lead your wife and children if you do not want to faint and be incapable of leading your sheep. Prayer is the answer to that challenge that you are going through.

The time to pray more is when you have just lost your job and you are finding it very difficult to meet your financial obligations to your wife and children. That is not the time for you to give up hope. As the head of the family, you must appreciate that challenges will come your way. Some of these challenges will come announced, while others will not give you notice. In whatever way these problems come, confront them with the weapon of prayer. Very importantly as the head of the family, you must be prepared at all times. It is only a prepared husband that can overcome the challenges of life. This is why Jesus admonishes you to always to pray. Always means all the time.
