Bible Texts: Gen.1:26-28, Lk.10:19, 2Kg.4:17-20, Micah 3:8
Every godly husbandman has undeniable authourity rooted in God and in the finished work of Calvary. In Gen. 1, the Scripture has this to say about the husbandman. And God said, let us make man in our image and after our likeness and let him have dominion over……..(Gen.1:26). Another word for dominion is authourity. And in Lk.10 and verse 19, Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman reiterated the position of the authourity of the godly husbandman when He declared, “I have given you authourity over all……(Lk.10:19)”.
As the good and godly husbandman, you must understand that the will of God for you is to exercise authourity over the circumstances of life even as you lead your wife and children. God does not want you to be like the husbandman in 2Kings chapter 4 and verses 17 through to 20, who lost the opportunity to exercise his authourity over the satanic attack on his son. The man’s son went with him to the field to work. Suddenly, the son took ill and when he was informed about the poor state of his son, he directed his servants to take his son to his mother. Of course, the mother received her son and took him to the prophet of God whom God worked through to rescue the boy from death. Imagine for a moment that the father exercised his authority and the son was delivered. Then picture the honour and respect he will enjoy from his wife, children and the neighbours.
Many husbandmen have lost their heritage as spiritual heads and shepherds in their sheepfolds. Their sheep would run to someone for help when they are being attacked by satan and sin rather go to their shepherd. And this explains why the husbandman is losing his rightful place in the agenda of God for the family in the times we are living in. You must declare like the husbandman in Micah, “But truly, I am full of power by the Spirit of the Lord. (Micah 3:8)”.
But what is authourity and what is the source of your authourity?
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to exercise my authority over the wiles of the devil.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of fear and timidity.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the spirit of faith for a victorious living.
FAITH CONFESSION
I have power with God and I exercise the authority of Christ in me over satan, sin and the world because I am the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
