LAYING AND LIVING THE RIGHT PATTERN

Spread the love

Bible Texts: 1Tim.1:15-16, Dan.1:8-9, Jn.3:3-5, Gal.4:19, Jn.15:5, Heb.10:22, 1Cor.2:6, Eph.5:25, Acts 1:1, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.12:2

This is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief. Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might show forth all long-suffering, for A PATTERN TO THEM WHICH SHOULD HEREAFTER BELIEVE on him to life everlasting (1Tim.1:15-16)

Let me begin by saying that you are the example of Jesus Christ to your wife, children and the world. You have so much power to influence your wife and children in the direction they should go. And most importantly, your wife and children will do what they see you do much more than what you say and claim to say. If your wife and children are doing exactly the opposite of what is godly, then examine your life to see what pattern you have provided for them. That is what the Scripture in 1Timothy chapter 1 tries to communicate to you.

As the head of your family, you are the leading light in your sheepfold. You are Christ’s ambassador to your wife and children. God has a pattern that He wants you to show to them. God has laid a way for you from His word, the Bible, on how you are expected to relate with your wife and children because His ways are ways of pleasantness and righteousness. As the good and godly husbandman, you do not only set the righteous pattern for your wife and children to believe and follow, you must also be the righteous pattern. And Jesus Christ who both began to do and teach (Acts 1:1).

However, for you to lay and live the right pattern after the example of Jesus Christ to your wife and children, you must acknowledge Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. In Jn.3:3, the Scripture has this to say. Jesus answered, verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God (Jn.3:3). You have to consciously and deliberately invite Jesus into your life and ask Him to take charge of your life.

Secondly, you must work out your salvation with fear and trembling. This requires you to make out time to study your Bible, pray the instructions the Holy Spirit will be communicating to you and personally think and do what is right. Daniel in Daniel chapter 1 intentionally chose to do what is right. But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the kings’ meat, nor with the wine which he drank….. (Dan.1:8).

Thirdly, you must daily contend in prayers coupled with fasting until the nature of Christ is formed in you (Gal.4:19). In Mark chapter 9, the Scripture says that, this kind goeth not forth except by prayer and fasting (Mk.9:29).

God wants you to represent His Son, Jesus Christ, profitably in your home and to your wife and children. God wants you to leave behind a godly and lasting legacy for your wife and children. God wants you to lay and live a good and godly pattern for your life and your wife and children. That is your heritage as the good and godly husbandman.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me Your ways and help me to live through them.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live above the flesh and help me to live by Your Spirit.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me the godly pattern for my wife and children and the world.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am a worthy ambassador of Jesus Christ to my wife and children and I lay and live the right pattern after Jesus Christ because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
