Bible Texts: Eph.6:4, Gen.18:19, Deut.6:7-8, Pro.19:18, 1Tim.3:4, Mk.9:29, Ps.112:2-3, Num.6:22-23, Is.61:9, Ps.127:3
In the past two (2) days, we looked into the Word of God to discover how effectual prayer can empower the husbandman to live as the good and godly man and husband, bringing glory to Jesus Christ.
Today, let us conclude by looking into the law of liberty to discover how praying for yourself as the husbandman can empower you to become the good and godly father.
And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4)
As the father, you have the first right of influence over your children (Deut.6:7-8).
You are also their first prophet (Ps.112:2).
You are also their source of strength, motivation, inspiration, direction, protection, leadership, influence, and righteous living (Eph.6:4).
This is why you must take ownership and responsibility for training, nurturing, and investing in your children’s spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical growth, development, and establishment. These are the responsibilities that make the good and godly father.
But the influences of satan, sin, and the world are constantly at war to ensure you do not become the good and godly father. This is why you must constantly pray for yourself as the father so that you can be empowered to be the good and godly father to your children.
You must continue to pray to God to give you wisdom to lead your children in the ways of the Lord. You must continue to pray to God to empower you to be the good and godly example to your children so you can become the good and godly influence in their lives (Gal.4:19).
As the father, God wants you to be intentional about fulfilling your covenant responsibilities to your children. God wants you to be a trusted and reliable custodian of His treasures He has given to you to watch over (Ps.127:3-5). This is what makes you the good and godly father.
God wants you to be a worthy vessel as the man, husband and father. God wants you to be the good and godly husbandman.
Hallelujah!
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the name of Jesus, give me wisdom and teach me how to lead my children in Your way.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, give my children hearing ears, seeing eyes, and the heart of obedience to Godly instructions and counsel I give to them.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to function as the good and godly father, indeed, to my children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am made in the image and likeness of God, and I take responsibility as the father to nurture my children in the way and admonition of the Lord because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
