BUILDING YOURSELF IN CHRIST

Bible Texts: Jude 1:20-21, 2Tim.2:15, Jn.5:39, Jn.15:5, Rom.12:2, 2Cor.3:18, Philp.3:10-14, Jos.1:6-8, Mk.9:29, Lk.18:1, Ex.28:1, Is.1:18-19

But ye beloved, building up yourself on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Keep yourself in the love of God for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life (Jude 1:20-21)

Becoming the good and godly husbandman will not happen by chance or by luck, but by taking responsibility to build yourself in Christ and in the Word of God by faith.

Now there are three key areas you must be committed to building yourself.

The first is that you must be committed to seek to know from the Word of God who you are in Jesus Christ as the husbandman (Gen.1:26-28, 2Cor.5:17).

You must also be committed and passionate to do all that God commands you to do as the man, husband, and father (Ex.28:1, Is.1:18-19).

You must be committed to renewing your mind with the Word of God for you to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ (Rom.12:1-2).

As you commit yourself to knowing your rightful place in Jesus, doing all that God commands you to do and keep renewing your mind with the Word of God, you must sustain your walk in God by building yourself in the knowledge of the Word of God (Jn.5:39). The more you look into the word of God for the things spoken concerning your office as the man, husband and father, the more you are transformed into the image of Jesus Christ in your conduct, action, thought and relationships with your wife and children and in the marketplace (2Cor.3:18).

You must be spiritually alert and contend for your inheritance as the godly husbandman in prayers and fasting (Jude 1:3, Mk.9:27, Lk.18:1). Prayer and fasting are spiritual weapons of warfare God has given to you to access power from on high that empowers your life to produce the fruit of the Spirit of Christ like faithfulness, forgiveness, tender-mercy, compassion, loving-kindness, diligence, courage, holiness, giving, faith, hope and joy (Mk.9:29, Jn.15:5, Gal.5:20-22, Gal.4:19, Philp.2:13).

As the husbandman, you must stop making excuses for your irresponsible life because it is not the way to go to becoming the good and godly man, husband and father. Rather, you must take a firm decision today to build and keep building yourself in your most holy faith by doing the perfect will of God for your life as the man, husband and father, regardless of the cost.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for making excuses for my irresponsible lifestyle.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to take personal responsibility of building my life as the husbandman.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to obey all Your commandments and pursue with passion and dedication the mandate of the office of the godly husbandman.

FAITH CONFESSION

I make a definite commitment today to take personal responsibility to build myself in the fullness of my calling as the husbandman because that is what enables me to function as the good and godly man, husband, and father in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Lord Jesus, I come to you today just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
