Man! (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gen.2:21-25

More Scriptures: Gen.1:26, Gen.2:8, Gen.2:16

In the next couple of days, I shall be exploring the subject, understanding man. And I pray that in the Name of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit will illuminate your heart with the truth to the extent that you will be inspired, motivated and empowered to become all that God has created you to be as the godly man. Amen.

It is important for you to understand that the will of God for manhood is to make him prosper and succeed. The manhood is dear to the heart of God because it was His first creation. And God said let us make man in our image and likeness (Gen.1:26). Every other thing-the birds of the air, the firmaments, the animals, were all spoken into existence. God said “let there be light and there was light”. Man was the only creature that God formed and breathed the breath of life into and man become a living soul. It is also very critical for you to understand that there is a distinction between a man, the man and the godly man. So, the question we want to ask today is this, who is “a man”? Who is “the man”? And who is “the godly man”?

A man is that male figure of the human creation. He has differentiating external features that distinguish him from the female. So when you see a man you can easily recognize him by those characteristics. A man needs to live up to the expectations of God as the man. And this is what Gen.2:5 illustrates. And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew, for the Lord God had not caused it to rain upon the earth and there was not A MAN to till the ground (Gen.2:5).

The man is that male figure who possesses the signs of manhood; he also demonstrates the qualities of manhood. He is a hard worker. He is mentally, emotionally and physically strong. He is fearless, bold and confident. He demonstrates dignity of labour and does legitimate engagements. These attributes are summed up in Scriptures. And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul. And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden and there he put THE MAN who he had formed. Why did God put the man in the garden? It is for him to work and not to walk aimlessly or sit idle. And the Lord God took THE MAN and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it (Gen.2:14). To dress a thing and to work it out is not fun fare but diligence. It is hard work. It involves both your spirit, soul and body.
