Man! (2)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gen.2:21-25

More Scriptures: Gen.1:26, Gen.2:8, Gen.2:16

Yesterday, by the grace of God and the help of the Holy Spirit, we explored the position of a man and the man. We also considered their characters. Today let us look at the third level of the manhood-The Godly Man. The godly man is that man who has been able to do all that the man would do and strengthen his works with a quality relationship with his maker, God. What makes the godly man different from a man and the man is the God factor. And that is what God desires from you- to have a quality relationship with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. From the beginning God craves for fellowship with you. And they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day…. (Gen.3:8). The word of God tells us that God wants your heart. He wants you. But why does God want me to function as a godly husband? Firstly, you are made in His image and likeness. The Scripture says so. And God said, let us make man in our image and in our own likeness (Gen.1:28). Secondly, you are God’s first creation according to Gen.2:21-25. It is for these reasons that God wants a deeper relationship with you so that through you He can show to your wife and children the true meaning of what the godly husband represents.

So, the question before you today is this, are you a man, the man or the godly man? You must always remember that God wants you to reflect His image, character and attitude to your wife and children. God wants you to be the Bible that your sheep would like to read.

However, for you to become the godly man, there are Biblical demands that you must subscribe to. The first is that you must be a child of God and have a personal relationship with the Person of Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of a good and godly man. So, new birth is the starting point (Jn.3:2-5). The second is that you must give attention to the word of God by studying it and meditating on it (2Tim.2:15). The third is that you must make prayer your lifestyle. Prayer is a form of worship; hence whenever you come to God in prayers, you are actually worshiping Him. And that is how you gain access into His presence to draw wisdom, strength and courage to be the godly man to your sheep. The word
of God tells us that in God’s presence there is fullness of joy. You must appreciate that your adversary, satan, will throw up challenges at you. He will want to make you look unfit to be called the godly man. Nevertheless, you must never give him the opportunity. As you give yourself to the demands of the Bible, you will triumph as the godly husband.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to seek Your ways as the godly man.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with supernatural strength to abide by Your demands of the godly man.

·         Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to take delight in coming into Your presence always.

I am created in the image and likeness of God and I live by this truth because that is what makes me the good and godly man to my sheep in Jesus Name. Amen.
