ARE YOUR SHEEP BAPTIZED UNTO YOU?

Main Scriptures: 1Cor.10:1-4

More Scriptures: Neh.4:6, 1Cor.1:10, Heb.8:10

It has been proven that leadership is about influence. Every leader influences the followers either positively or negatively. And when you see the attitude, mannerism as well as dress and lifestyle of the followers, you can tell their leader. In fact, leadership influence rubs off on the followers. Now, when you consider your position in the sheepfold, you notice that you are the leader. The position of the headship means that you are the first amongst equals. And who are you leading? You are leading your wife and children. This means that your leadership qualities must reflect in the lives of your sheep. When people who know you and have interacted with you see your sheep, they should easily see your reflection in them. That is what the Scripture in 1Cor.10 tries to explain. Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud and all passed through the sea. And were baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea. And did all eat the same spiritual meat and did all drink the same spiritual drink, for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them and that Rock was Christ (1Cor.10:1-4). Looking at the life of the disciples of Jesus Christ in Acts of the Apostles, the people acknowledged that they behaved like Christ. This was possible because they had been with Christ and were impacted by Him. As the good shepherd and godly husbandman, you must make your life impact positively in the lives of your wife and children.

But how do I baptize my wife and children into my life? The first step you must take is acknowledge that God has created you to be the man, husband and father of impact. So, you must come to this understanding. The second is that you must ensure that the words of your mouth and the meditations of your heart are acceptable to God and to your sheep. You must act the Bible and the life of Jesus Christ. Thirdly, you must pray to God to give your wife and children the spirit of obedience. This is very important because the proof of your impact in their lives is when they willingly obey your instructions and follow your patterns. And this Spirit goes with them everywhere-at work, school and other places. And I set before the sons of the house of the Rechabites pots full of wine and cups and I said unto them drink ye wine. But they said, we will drink no wine, for Jonadab the son of Rechab our father commanded us saying, ye shall drink no wine, neither ye nor your sons forever (Jer.35:5-6).

You are not just an ordinary husbandman. You are not in your sheepfold to be counted as the head of the family. Because you are the representative of God in your sheepfold and in the lives of your sheep, you must work hard to reproduce yourself and the godly virtues in you in the lives of your sheep.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with grace to be the godly example to my wife and children.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, break the power of rebellion and disobedience working in the lives of my sheep.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give my wife and children the Spirit of obedience.

FAITH CONFESSION

I walk in the consciousness that I am created to make godly impact in the lives of my wife and children as the good and godly husband in Jesus Name. Amen.
