THE POINT MAN (1)

Spread the love

Main Scriptures: Gen.3:1-11

More Scriptures: Eph.5:23, Ps.133:2, Matt.16:23

By the grace of God and the help of our Teacher, The Person of the Holy Spirit, I will be sharing with you on the subject The Point Man. I pray that you will catch the revelation in it and engage yourself in it diligently and faithfully.

So, who is a point man? What does it stand for? Together, we would explore the position of the husbandman in God, in his family and in the market places of life. But let us lay the foundation. In every game, sports or even war, there is one man who influences decisions and has the power and the capacity to turn around the fortune of the team. He is so influential that he becomes the prime target of the opposition. The enemies or opponents work hard to limit his influence and command in the game. Even in warfronts, the enemy would rather want him dead. A lot of the time, the point man has the winning formulae, so every member of the team or troops depend on him. The focus is on him. That is who a point man is. Bring this down to the home front. Your home is made up of team members-your wife and children and yourself. Among the members of your team, you are the point man. Everything points to you. The surnames that your wife and children bear, the reference being made about your family, and the summary people would make about your flock, points to you. Your wife and children look to you for direction, wisdom, counsel, protection, provision, and mentorship. Your adversary, satan, also is looking to devour you. You are his arch enemy. In Genesis chapter 2, the Word of God gives us a graphic example of this. And the Lord God took the man and put him into the Garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. And commanded the man saying of every tree thou shalt eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat (Gen.2:15-17). The command was given to the husband and not the wife. However, satan deceived the wife while the husband was watching. Eventually, they disobeyed God and ate the forbidden fruit that God commanded them not to eat. So, when God would come visiting, He did not call the wife. He called on the point man-the husband. And the Lord God called unto Adam (husband), and said unto him, where art thou? Gen.3:9. The enemy did not target the wife; he targeted the commandment given to the point man. The shepherd carries the burden of the team on his shoulders. That is who you are-the point man in your family.

FAITH CONFESSION

I recognize that I am a point man in my family and walk in that reality as the good and godly husband to my wife and children in Jesus Name. Amen.
